He who is the mountain not bound to the earth, who poured out thousands and increased might in the hosts—Indra who smote Vṛtra and unbarred the waters, scattering the marshes and swallowing the floods, he brought ruin to the blind ones.

He it is who opened the doors in doors and uplifts the moon’s treasure, increased in might by sages. I invoked that Indra with perceptive mind and steadfast thought; he struck down the blind foe.

They the priests fill him in the skies with soma, they urge the ocean, the fair, for the wished-for boon. They who followed the slayer of Vṛtra stood near—subtle were the calls that carried Indra through the seasons, the bards who sang him praise.

They do not set you, indeed, in a heartless fashion, O Brahman Indra; those things of yours which increase are to be praised. Tvaṣṭṛ fashioned the mind that aided the hosts; he endowed the bolt with might and clothed it with radiance and vigor.
