jaghanvām̐ u haribhiḥ sambhṛtakratavindra vṛtraṃ manuṣe gātuyannapaḥ ayacchathā bāhvorvajramāyasamadhārayo divyā sūryaṃ dṛśe
The mighty one, borne by Hari’s hosts and with firm resolve, struck Vṛtra as men sing; the waters went forth. Thus, with arms like thunder and bearing a bolt, they brought down the bright Sun to be seen.
Indra, performer of holy acts, desirous of going to man, you with your steeds have slain Vṛtra (have set free) the waters, have taken in your hands your thunderbolt of metal, and have made the sun visible in the sky.
When, Indra, thou whose power is linked with thy Bay Steeds hadst smitten Vrtra, causing floods to flow for man, Thou heldst in thine arms the metal thunderbolt, and settest in the heaven the Sun for all to see.
