So be it: place the strength of Agni in the household with mind; we choose that heavenly portion, Indra and Vayu we choose. Whatever of the bright ones moved by the Sun was not yet bound to the sky. Let wise thoughts flow upward; let the gods’ thoughts, the best, come forth.

Whatsoever of Mitra-Varuna’s circle was set against falsehood was given by his own Mind and prowess. We two saw the shining wealth in the middle of the battlefield. May the thoughts and minds protect by their own bulls, and the Soma’s guardians by their own protectors.

You, with hymns, O Ashvins, as if invoking, attend: O singers, you pour the oblation. All riches are yours above, you are the knowers of all wealth. Winds carry your chariots to golden treasure on the furrowed paths.

They sped forth, the ten‑chariot host, they yoked your chariot in the heavens; may they bind you with ten chariots for the golden prize. Road-following, ordered by the dust, the courses rule by their motion, the dust governs.

Our splendors by Shachi are adorned by day and night to the tenth measure. Let not night strike upon us; when shall our night be? when shall our radiance be?

Indra with rain, the rain-drinker, and these hounds streamed forth, sprung from the mountains; they arose for you, O bounteous ones. May they slow you on the track at the feast, at the rich pasture. Let singers and heralds exalt, let the pleasant bard not fail to speak.

Hear, O Agni: you, invoked among gods, you speak to the sacrificers and to kings. What the Angirases gave as the cow to the gods they bestowed. May Aryaman milk it; the performer and faithful friend know that truth — may he who knows it be my companion.

May those offerings of ours be for you, O Pûṣan, that you bring to us the youthful, life-giving breaths; may you bring the ancient enkindlers to our forefathers. Whatever wondrous voice in each generation proclaims new sounds, may that Marut within us which has been appointed to dispel evil and that which is appointed to repel evil be favourable to us.

O Angiras, former to me is the curd and clarified butter, Kañva is my beloved; Manu knew them before me. In those gods there is no fear for us; by their feet may the great ones grant me praise—O Indra, O Agni, accept my praise.

The Hotṛs invoked the guardian singers; Bṛhaspati offered the sacrificial water with brows bound, with branches of wood, with tall wood. We awoke, sending forth songs to the distant quarters, with heart devoted on the mountain’s summit. Sukratu placed many fortresses below, Sukratu set many strongholds above.

Those gods stood eleven in heaven, eleven in mid-earth; eleven they remained in the waters with the mighty ones. O gods, you who stood eleven, perform this sacrifice for us.
