अ॒ग्निं दू॒तं वृ॑णीमहे॒ होता॑रं वि॒श्ववे॑दसम् । अ॒स्य य॒ज्ञस्य॑ सु॒क्रतु॑म्
agniṃ dūtaṃ vṛṇīmahe hotāraṃ viśvavedasam asya yajñasya sukratum
We choose Agni as messenger, the sacrificer’s priest, knower of all; for this sacrifice, the ever-accomplishing one.

agnimagniṃ havīmabhiḥ sadā havanta viśpatim havyavāhaṃ purupriyam
O Agni, ever kindled, accept our offerings; you who preside over the sacrifice, bring the oblation dear to men.

agne devām̐ ihā vaha jajñāno vṛktabarhiṣe asi hotā na īḍyaḥ
Agni, bring the gods here with knowledge, called by the priests with the clarified butter; be the priest who is invoked.

tām̐ uśato vi bodhaya yadagne yāsi dūtyam devairā satsi barhiṣi
Wake them from slumber, make them know what message you carry, O Agni, among the gods and in the true ritual of the hymns.

Kindled with clarified butter, blaze forth and burn away enmity; Agni, protect us.

agnināgniḥ samidhyate kavirgṛhapatiryuvā havyavāḍjuhvāsyaḥ
With Agni the Agni is honored, the poet, lord of the house, is young; may the oblation and the prayer be laid upon him.

kavimagnimupa stuhi satyadharmāṇamadhvare devamamīvacātanam
Praise Agni, the seer, the supporter of truth and law; he is like a god who speaks forth the mantras.

यस्त्वाम॑ग्ने ह॒विष्प॑तिर्दू॒तं दे॑व सप॒र्यति॑ । तस्य॑ स्म प्रावि॒ता भ॑व
yastvāmagne haviṣpatirdūtaṃ deva saparyati tasya sma prāvitā bhava
O Agni, who as lord of oblations carries the divine offering as a messenger to the gods — may his coming bring us prosperity.

यो अ॒ग्निं दे॒ववी॑तये ह॒विष्मा॑ँ आ॒विवा॑सति । तस्मै॑ पावक मृळय
yo agniṃ devavītaye haviṣmām̐ āvivāsati tasmai pāvaka mṛḷaya
He who brings Agni for the gods, bearing our oblation to the divine assembly, to him, O Fire, be kindly and favorable.

स नः॑ पावक दीदि॒वोऽग्ने॑ दे॒वाँ इ॒हा व॑ह । उप॑ य॒ज्ञं ह॒विश्च॑ नः
sa naḥ pāvaka dīdivo'gne devām̐ ihā vaha upa yajñaṃ haviśca naḥ
May that radiant Agni, O Fire, bring the gods here; carry our oblation to the sacrificial place for us.

स नः॒ स्तवा॑न॒ आ भ॑र गाय॒त्रेण॒ नवी॑यसा । र॒यिं वी॒रव॑ती॒मिष॑म्
sa naḥ stavāna ā bhara gāyatreṇa navīyasā rayiṃ vīravatīmiṣam
May he, praised by us, uphold the song (Gayatri) renewed for us — bestowing strength, heroic glory, and abundant wealth.

अग्ने॑ शु॒क्रेण॑ शो॒चिषा॒ विश्वा॑भिर्दे॒वहू॑तिभिः । इ॒मं स्तोमं॑ जुषस्व नः
agne śukreṇa śociṣā viśvābhirdevahūtibhiḥ imaṃ stomaṃ juṣasva naḥ
O Agni, with radiant brilliance and a lamenting voice, offered by all the peoples with sacred invocations—accept this hymn for us.
