प्र म॒न्दिने॑ पितु॒मद॑र्चता॒ वचो॒ यः कृ॒ष्णग॑र्भा नि॒रह॑न्नृ॒जिश्व॑ना । अ॒व॒स्यवो॒ वृष॑णं॒ वज्र॑दक्षिणं म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
pra mandine pitumadarcatā vaco yaḥ kṛṣṇagarbhā nirahannṛjiśvanā avasyavo vṛṣaṇaṃ vajradakṣiṇaṃ marutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
We invoke the gentle father, the speaker whose womb was dark, who freed the people; may he who possesses the strong steed and the thunderous right be our companion, the Marut-like one—let us sacrifice for friendship.

यो व्यं॑सं जाहृषा॒णेन॑ म॒न्युना॒ यः शम्ब॑रं॒ यो अह॒न्पिप्रु॑मव्र॒तम् । इन्द्रो॒ यः शुष्ण॑म॒शुषं॒ न्यावृ॑णङ्म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
yo vyaṃsaṃ jāhṛṣāṇena manyunā yaḥ śambaraṃ yo ahanpiprumavratam indro yaḥ śuṣṇamaśuṣaṃ nyāvṛṇaṅmarutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
He who carried the host with good decree, who uprooted opposition with the Maruts, who fortifies the battle-trouble and upholds the vow—Indra who makes the arid moist, the Marut-like one—let us sacrifice for friendship.

यस्य॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी पौंस्यं॑ म॒हद्यस्य॑ व्र॒ते वरु॑णो॒ यस्य॒ सूर्यः॑ । यस्येन्द्र॑स्य॒ सिन्ध॑वः॒ सश्च॑ति व्र॒तं म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
yasya dyāvāpṛthivī pauṃsyaṃ mahadyasya vrate varuṇo yasya sūryaḥ yasyendrasya sindhavaḥ saścati vrataṃ marutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
Of whose are heaven and earth, whose ordinance is great, whose sun is; whose ocean is his, and whose vow is steadfast—Indra, the Marut-like one—let us sacrifice for friendship.

यो अश्वा॑नां॒ यो गवां॒ गोप॑तिर्व॒शी य आ॑रि॒तः कर्म॑णिकर्मणि स्थि॒रः । वी॒ळोश्चि॒दिन्द्रो॒ यो असु॑न्वतो व॒धो म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
yo aśvānāṃ yo gavāṃ gopatirvaśī ya āritaḥ karmaṇikarmaṇi sthiraḥ vīḷościdindro yo asunvato vadho marutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
He who is lord of horses and cows, the herdsman, master of deeds, steady in action; Indra who, bearing the ruin for his foe, is the slayer—Marut-like one—let us sacrifice for friendship.

यो विश्व॑स्य॒ जग॑तः प्राण॒तस्पति॒र्यो ब्र॒ह्मणे॑ प्रथ॒मो गा अवि॑न्दत् । इन्द्रो॒ यो दस्यू॒ँरध॑राँ अ॒वाति॑रन्म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
yo viśvasya jagataḥ prāṇataspatiryo brahmaṇe prathamo gā avindat indro yo dasyūm̐radharām̐ avātiranmarutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
He who, lord of breath of the universe and the world, first revealed himself to Brahman—Indra it is who, coming down upon the ten‑stranded people, we invoke as friend with the Maruts.

यः शूरे॑भि॒र्हव्यो॒ यश्च॑ भी॒रुभि॒र्यो धाव॑द्भिर्हू॒यते॒ यश्च॑ जि॒ग्युभिः॑ । इन्द्रं॒ यं विश्वा॒ भुव॑ना॒भि सं॑द॒धुर्म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
yaḥ śūrebhirhavyo yaśca bhīrubhiryo dhāvadbhirhūyate yaśca jigyubhiḥ indraṃ yaṃ viśvā bhuvanābhi saṃdadhurmarutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
He who is effulgent among the brave, who is praised by the fearless, whom the victorious invoke—Indra, whom all peoples and worlds have appointed, we invoke as friend with the Maruts.

रु॒द्राणा॑मेति प्र॒दिशा॑ विचक्ष॒णो रु॒द्रेभि॒र्योषा॑ तनुते पृ॒थु ज्रयः॑ । इन्द्रं॑ मनी॒षा अ॒भ्य॑र्चति श्रु॒तं म॒रुत्व॑न्तं स॒ख्याय॑ हवामहे
rudrāṇāmeti pradiśā vicakṣaṇo rudrebhiryoṣā tanute pṛthu jrayaḥ indraṃ manīṣā abhyarcati śrutaṃ marutvantaṃ sakhyāya havāmahe
He who is called Rudra among the quarters, whose glance beholds, whose brightness expands and increases greatly—indriya (thought) worships that Indra; we invoke him as friend with the Maruts, whose fame is heard.

यद्वा॑ मरुत्वः पर॒मे स॒धस्थे॒ यद्वा॑व॒मे वृ॒जने॑ मा॒दया॑से । अत॒ आ या॑ह्यध्व॒रं नो॒ अच्छा॑ त्वा॒या ह॒विश्च॑कृमा सत्यराधः
yadvā marutvaḥ parame sadhasthe yadvāvame vṛjane mādayāse ata ā yāhyadhvaraṃ no acchā tvāyā haviścakṛmā satyarādhaḥ
Whether the Marut is established above or whether he delights us here in the herd—therefore come hither, O bringer of sacrifice; through you, O sacrificers, may we be true in worship.

त्वा॒येन्द्र॒ सोमं॑ सुषुमा सुदक्ष त्वा॒या ह॒विश्च॑कृमा ब्रह्मवाहः । अधा॑ नियुत्वः॒ सग॑णो म॒रुद्भि॑र॒स्मिन्य॒ज्ञे ब॒र्हिषि॑ मादयस्व
tvāyendra somaṃ suṣumā sudakṣa tvāyā haviścakṛmā brahmavāhaḥ adhā niyutvaḥ sagaṇo marudbhirasminyajñe barhiṣi mādayasva
Through you, O Indra, the Soma flows sweetly; through you the sacrificial rite is fashioned, bearer of Brahman. Arrange for us the union with the Maruts; in this sacrifice, with the heroes, bring delight to us with the offering.

मा॒दय॑स्व॒ हरि॑भि॒र्ये त॑ इन्द्र॒ वि ष्य॑स्व॒ शिप्रे॒ वि सृ॑जस्व॒ धेने॑ । आ त्वा॑ सुशिप्र॒ हर॑यो वहन्तू॒शन्ह॒व्यानि॒ प्रति॑ नो जुषस्व
mādayasva haribhirye ta indra vi ṣyasva śipre vi sṛjasva dhene ā tvā suśipra harayo vahantūśanhavyāni prati no juṣasva
Delight us with the Hari‑ones; O Indra, send forth, swiftly create abundant wealth for cattle. May the swift‑moving excellent prizes carry offerings and bring us fulfillment.

म॒रुत्स्तो॑त्रस्य वृ॒जन॑स्य गो॒पा व॒यमिन्द्रे॑ण सनुयाम॒ वाज॑म् । तन्नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो मामहन्ता॒मदि॑तिः॒ सिन्धुः॑ पृथि॒वी उ॒त द्यौः
marutstotrasya vṛjanasya gopā vayamindreṇa sanuyāma vājam tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ
We, the cowherds, sing the praise of the Maruts’ song in the herd; may Indra grant us strength. May Mitra and Varuna, Aditi, Sindhu, Earth and Heaven be propitious to us.
