This Soma, Indra, listen to him; preserve him, protect him. You who drew him and made him rain — to the delightful Soma be your strength.

He divided the chariot, not burdensomely yoked, the great steeds, he satisfied the troops. First he produced all the swift-moving rivers born from the fountains; upwards they rose anew.

Wind who, restraining, favored the desired, they brought as worship; he, the mighty Śambhava, settled. Universal bestower like a stream of riches, you are Poosha, the generous keeper, Soma.

Indra acted in mighty deeds, slayer of the Vṛtras, Soma the ancient. Born you're not the slayer of the hosts of the world today; you are the breaker of foes.

Fire, not born in the forest, you do not vainly make offerings to rivers. Men do not obtain great victory by fighting — Soma is purifier, a swelling wave.

These Somās are exceedingly forest-born, divine; not from the cellars are the cloud-rains. In vain the ocean’s rivers did not sink low; they poured into the pitchers but did not pour away.

Drought, heat and storm do not afflict the Maruts; they are revered, divine like seed. Waters are not deceitful; be gracious to us, thousands of fishes, protectors of the ritual.

O king, your vows are those of Varuṇa, broad and deep; your dwelling, Soma, is a realm. You are pure, beloved, a Mitra, skilled, dwelling in the noble place.
