agnirna yo vana ā sṛjyamāno vṛthā pājāṃsi kṛṇute nadīṣu jano na yudhvā mahata upabdiriyarti somaḥ pavamāna ūrmim
Fire, not born in the forest, you do not vainly make offerings to rivers. Men do not obtain great victory by fighting — Soma is purifier, a swelling wave.
Soma who, like Agni let loose in a forest, easily manifests his might in the waters like a man who fights shouting against his mighty (foe)-- so Soma when purified urges on his wave.
Like Agni loosed amid the forest, fiercely he winneth splendour in the running waters. Like one who fights, the roaring of the mighty, thus Soma Pavamana sends his current.
