उ॒भयं॑ शृ॒णव॑च्च न॒ इन्द्रो॑ अ॒र्वागि॒दं वचः॑ । स॒त्राच्या॑ म॒घवा॒ सोम॑पीतये धि॒या शवि॑ष्ठ॒ आ ग॑मत्
ubhayaṃ śaṛṇavacca na indro arvāgidaṃ vacaḥ satrācyā maghavā somapītaye dhiyā śaviṣṭha ā gamat
Hear both words: Indra does not break this speech. Let the generous drink Soma for strength and insight; the best-voted thought came to the sacrificer.

तं हि स्व॒राजं॑ वृष॒भं तमोज॑से धि॒षणे॑ निष्टत॒क्षतुः॑ । उ॒तोप॒मानां॑ प्रथ॒मो नि षी॑दसि॒ सोम॑कामं॒ हि ते॒ मनः॑
taṃ hi svarājaṃ vṛṣabhaṃ tamojase dhiṣaṇe niṣṭatakṣatuḥ utopamānāṃ prathamo ni ṣīdasi somakāmaṃ hi te manaḥ
Indeed you, excellent bull with your own might, were fixed in brilliance by thought and by the skillful. First among equals you settled, O Soma-desiring mind.

ā vṛṣasva purūvaso sutasyendrāndhasaḥ vidmā hi tvā harivaḥ pṛtsu sāsahimadhṛṣṭaṃ ciddadhṛṣvaṇim
May you be strong, O ancient champion, first among heroes. We know you as the remover of obstacles; grant us strength and steady glory in our breasts.

अप्रा॑मिसत्य मघव॒न्तथेद॑स॒दिन्द्र॒ क्रत्वा॒ यथा॒ वशः॑ । स॒नेम॒ वाजं॒ तव॑ शिप्रि॒न्नव॑सा म॒क्षू चि॒द्यन्तो॑ अद्रिवः
aprāmisatya maghavantathedasadindra kratvā yathā vaśaḥ sanema vājaṃ tava śiprinnavasā makṣū cidyanto adrivaḥ
Unfailing in might, heroic Indra fashioned the slayer like a ploughshare. May your wealth flow swiftly; peoples, like rivers, come forth rejoicing.

śagdhyū3 ṣu śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ bhagaṃ na hi tvā yaśasaṃ vasuvidamanu śūra carāmasi
O Indra, with your throngs you have utterly overcome; you move with universal renown. Indeed you, knower of riches, have been brave among the heroic.

पौ॒रो अश्व॑स्य पुरु॒कृद्गवा॑म॒स्युत्सो॑ देव हिर॒ण्ययः॑ । नकि॒र्हि दानं॑ परि॒मर्धि॑ष॒त्त्वे यद्य॒द्यामि॒ तदा भ॑र
pauro aśvasya purukṛdgavāmasyutso deva hiraṇyayaḥ nakirhi dānaṃ parimardhiṣattve yadyadyāmi tadā bhara
Like first-born horses of the city, cows and men are offered, O god of gold. No gift is beyond measure for you; whatever I bring I bear to you.

त्वं ह्येहि॒ चेर॑वे वि॒दा भगं॒ वसु॑त्तये । उद्वा॑वृषस्व मघव॒न्गवि॑ष्टय॒ उदि॒न्द्राश्व॑मिष्टये
tvaṃ hyehi cerave vidā bhagaṃ vasuttaye udvāvṛṣasva maghavangaviṣṭaya udindrāśvamiṣṭaye
Come, bestower, and accept wealth for the possessors. Bring forth, generous one, rich cattle and the steeds desired by Indra.

त्वं पु॒रू स॒हस्रा॑णि श॒तानि॑ च यू॒था दा॒नाय॑ मंहसे । आ पु॑रंद॒रं च॑कृम॒ विप्र॑वचस॒ इन्द्रं॒ गाय॒न्तोऽव॑से
tvaṃ purū sahasrāṇi śatāni ca yūthā dānāya maṃhase ā puraṃdaraṃ cakṛma vipravacasa indraṃ gāyanto'vase
You give hundreds and thousands and hundreds to the people; you bestow gifts with liberal thought. They made Purandara famous by their hymns, proclaiming Indra among the priests.

अ॒वि॒प्रो वा॒ यदवि॑ध॒द्विप्रो॑ वेन्द्र ते॒ वचः॑ । स प्र म॑मन्दत्त्वा॒या श॑तक्रतो॒ प्राचा॑मन्यो॒ अहं॑सन
avipro vā yadavidhadvipro vendra te vacaḥ sa pra mamandattvāyā śatakrato prācāmanyo ahaṃsana
Whether a seer spoke what the seer knew or refrained, that speech of yours became manifest. He, thoughtful and hundred-minded, advanced; another I slew.

उ॒ग्रबा॑हुर्म्रक्ष॒कृत्वा॑ पुरंद॒रो यदि॑ मे शृ॒णव॒द्धव॑म् । व॒सू॒यवो॒ वसु॑पतिं श॒तक्र॑तुं॒ स्तोमै॒रिन्द्रं॑ हवामहे
ugrabāhurmrakṣakṛtvā puraṃdaro yadi me śaṛṇavaddhavam vasūyavo vasupatiṃ śatakratuṃ stomairindraṃ havāmahe
If Purandara (the Slayer of forts) makes my strong-armed protector hear, we invoke Indra, the best of givers, the possessor of wealth, with a hundred-fold sacrifice through hymns.

न पा॒पासो॑ मनामहे॒ नारा॑यासो॒ न जळ्ह॑वः । यदिन्न्विन्द्रं॒ वृष॑णं॒ सचा॑ सु॒ते सखा॑यं कृ॒णवा॑महै
na pāpāso manāmahe nārāyāso na jaḷhavaḥ yadinnvindraṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ sacā sute sakhāyaṃ kṛṇavāmahai
We do not intend evil, nor (seek) Narayana-like pride, nor (are) burning with envy. May Indra, strong as a bull, make us friends and allies, performing the sacrifice for us.

उ॒ग्रं यु॑युज्म॒ पृत॑नासु सास॒हिमृ॒णका॑ति॒मदा॑भ्यम् । वेदा॑ भृ॒मं चि॒त्सनि॑ता र॒थीत॑मो वा॒जिनं॒ यमिदू॒ नश॑त्
ugraṃ yuyujma pṛtanāsu sāsahimṛṇakātimadābhyam vedā bhṛmaṃ citsanitā rathītamo vājinaṃ yamidū naśat
You smote fierce foes among hostile men, overthrowing death-bringing arrogance; knowledge (veda) flies, mindful, the foremost charioteer — may he not destroy the powerful vajra-wielder.

यत॑ इन्द्र॒ भया॑महे॒ ततो॑ नो॒ अभ॑यं कृधि । मघ॑वञ्छ॒ग्धि तव॒ तन्न॑ ऊ॒तिभि॒र्वि द्विषो॒ वि मृधो॑ जहि
yata indra bhayāmahe tato no abhayaṃ kṛdhi maghavañchagdhi tava tanna ūtibhirvi dviṣo vi mṛdho jahi
What fear we bear of Indra, grant us then safety. O Mghavan, accept that oblation; with your shafts repulse the hostile, crush the foe.

त्वं हि रा॑धस्पते॒ राध॑सो म॒हः क्षय॒स्यासि॑ विध॒तः । तं त्वा॑ व॒यं म॑घवन्निन्द्र गिर्वणः सु॒ताव॑न्तो हवामहे
tvaṃ hi rādhaspate rādhaso mahaḥ kṣayasyāsi vidhataḥ taṃ tvā vayaṃ maghavannindra girvaṇaḥ sutāvanto havāmahe
You indeed are Radhaspati, great disposer of abundance, established by the Lawgiver. We, Mghavans, praise you with voice and hymns as noble men invoke Indra.

इन्द्रः॒ स्पळु॒त वृ॑त्र॒हा प॑र॒स्पा नो॒ वरे॑ण्यः । स नो॑ रक्षिषच्चर॒मं स म॑ध्य॒मं स प॒श्चात्पा॑तु नः पु॒रः
indraḥ spaḷuta vṛtrahā paraspā no vareṇyaḥ sa no rakṣiṣaccaramaṃ sa madhyamaṃ sa paścātpātu naḥ puraḥ
Indra, slayer of Vritra, be for us the excellent one. Protect us going before, be our middle guard, and guard us after, in front of our dwelling.

त्वं नः॑ प॒श्चाद॑ध॒रादु॑त्त॒रात्पु॒र इन्द्र॒ नि पा॑हि वि॒श्वतः॑ । आ॒रे अ॒स्मत्कृ॑णुहि॒ दैव्यं॑ भ॒यमा॒रे हे॒तीरदे॑वीः
tvaṃ naḥ paścādadharāduttarātpura indra ni pāhi viśvataḥ āre asmatkṛṇuhi daivyaṃ bhayamāre hetīradevīḥ
From rear, from beneath, from above, from front — Indra, protect us from all sides. Make for us divine defense; avert terror — O goddess of roads, do this.

अ॒द्याद्या॒ श्वःश्व॒ इन्द्र॒ त्रास्व॑ प॒रे च॑ नः । विश्वा॑ च नो जरि॒तॄन्स॑त्पते॒ अहा॒ दिवा॒ नक्तं॑ च रक्षिषः
adyādyā śvaḥśva indra trāsva pare ca naḥ viśvā ca no jaritṝnsatpate ahā divā naktaṃ ca rakṣiṣaḥ
May Indra terrify our enemies today and tomorrow; guard all our old and new-born ones, O Lord, by day and by night.

प्र॒भ॒ङ्गी शूरो॑ म॒घवा॑ तु॒वीम॑घः॒ सम्मि॑श्लो वि॒र्या॑य॒ कम् । उ॒भा ते॑ बा॒हू वृष॑णा शतक्रतो॒ नि या वज्रं॑ मिमि॒क्षतुः॑
prabhaṅgī śūro maghavā tuvīmaghaḥ sammiślo viryāya kam ubhā te bāhū vṛṣaṇā śatakrato ni yā vajraṃ mimikṣatuḥ
Valiant Mghavan, warrior with shattered might, you and your might mingle for prowess. Both your arms, like bulls, O hundred-sacrificing one, saw the thunderbolt they sought.
