You are the ancient bestowers of wealth, the priestly ones, the faultless, the guardians of possessions, O performers of sacrifice. You alone set all the worlds in order—by you the beneficences in which are auspicious gifts are preserved, O purifier.

You, mighty priest, appear as the dawn, sit with the ritual, and become charioteer of the cars. You move with directive skill; the born-knower (Jātavedas) dispenses the possessions.

He who has not acted hostilely against us, O Agni, who would make friend within—he, with bulls and youthful steeds, performs austerities by his own fires, the ascetic by penance.

Therefore act so and we will hymn you, Agni; contend and obstruct, with might restrain the foes. Whatever words of thine have been chanted in the skies, pronounce them, O bringer of flames, in loud voice, O mind.
