वृषा॒ मद॒ इन्द्रे॒ श्लोक॑ उ॒क्था सचा॒ सोमे॑षु सुत॒पा ऋ॑जी॒षी । अ॒र्च॒त्र्यो॑ म॒घवा॒ नृभ्य॑ उ॒क्थैर्द्यु॒क्षो राजा॑ गि॒रामक्षि॑तोतिः
vṛṣā mada indre śloka ukthā sacā someṣu sutapā ṛjīṣī arcatryo maghavā nṛbhya ukthairdyukṣo rājā girāmakṣitotiḥ
O Indra, exalted in might, songs and praises are with Soma and the ascetic chiefs as rulers; the singer, puissant with hymns, has the kingly tongue and fame.

ततु॑रिर्वी॒रो नर्यो॒ विचे॑ताः॒ श्रोता॒ हवं॑ गृण॒त उ॒र्व्यू॑तिः । वसुः॒ शंसो॑ न॒रां का॒रुधा॑या वा॒जी स्तु॒तो वि॒दथे॑ दाति॒ वाज॑म्
taturirvīro naryo vicetāḥ śrotā havaṃ gṛṇata urvyūtiḥ vasuḥ śaṃso narāṃ kārudhāyā vājī stuto vidathe dāti vājam
Then heroes and men wisely considered; the listeners proclaimed the oblation with array. Wealth’s praise gives men strength and the cattle offering grants the vital prize.

अक्षो॒ न च॒क्र्योः॑ शूर बृ॒हन्प्र ते॑ म॒ह्ना रि॑रिचे॒ रोद॑स्योः । वृ॒क्षस्य॒ नु ते॑ पुरुहूत व॒या व्यू॒३॒॑तयो॑ रुरुहुरिन्द्र पू॒र्वीः
akṣo na cakryoḥ śūra bṛhanpra te mahnā ririce rodasyoḥ vṛkṣasya nu te puruhūta vayā vyū3tayo ruruhurindra pūrvīḥ
Not of the axle nor of the wheel are your mighty ones; great from you they moved, stirring the two courses of the sky and earth. For the tree the chief priest invoked the ancient mighty ones, Indra’s forerunners.

शची॑वतस्ते पुरुशाक॒ शाका॒ गवा॑मिव स्रु॒तयः॑ सं॒चर॑णीः । व॒त्सानां॒ न त॒न्तय॑स्त इन्द्र॒ दाम॑न्वन्तो अदा॒मानः॑ सुदामन्
śacīvataste puruśāka śākā gavāmiva srutayaḥ saṃcaraṇīḥ vatsānāṃ na tantayasta indra dāmanvanto adāmānaḥ sudāman
Your shoots as if herbage, branches like cows in their flocks, the heard‑ones moved about. Indra held not the threads of the young; he gave flawless benefactions.

अ॒न्यद॒द्य कर्व॑रम॒न्यदु॒ श्वोऽस॑च्च॒ सन्मुहु॑राच॒क्रिरिन्द्रः॑ । मि॒त्रो नो॒ अत्र॒ वरु॑णश्च पू॒षार्यो वश॑स्य पर्ये॒तास्ति॑
anyadadya karvaramanyadu śvo'sacca sanmuhurācakririndraḥ mitro no atra varuṇaśca pūṣāryo vaśasya paryetāsti
Another day Doer, another the chariot, again the steed—thus Indra performed timely deeds. Mitra and Varuna and Pūṣan, rulers, are strong and within control here.

वि त्वदापो॒ न पर्व॑तस्य पृ॒ष्ठादु॒क्थेभि॑रिन्द्रानयन्त य॒ज्ञैः । तं त्वा॒भिः सु॑ष्टु॒तिभि॑र्वा॒जय॑न्त आ॒जिं न ज॑ग्मुर्गिर्वाहो॒ अश्वाः॑
vi tvadāpo na parvatasya pṛṣṭhādukthebhirindrānayanta yajñaiḥ taṃ tvābhiḥ suṣṭutibhirvājayanta ājiṃ na jagmurgirvāho aśvāḥ
Waters of the mountain did not bring you forth; with hymns they led Indra to the sacrifices. By these laudations they yoked you, the swift steeds moved, the coursers ran.

न यं जर॑न्ति श॒रदो॒ न मासा॒ न द्याव॒ इन्द्र॑मवक॒र्शय॑न्ति । वृ॒द्धस्य॑ चिद्वर्धतामस्य त॒नूः स्तोमे॑भिरु॒क्थैश्च॑ श॒स्यमा॑ना
na yaṃ jaranti śarado na māsā na dyāva indramavakarśayanti vṛddhasya cidvardhatāmasya tanūḥ stomebhirukthaiśca śasyamānā
Neither the seasons nor the months drag Indra down; may he increase the strength of that venerable body with hymns and with cultivated crops.

न वी॒ळवे॒ नम॑ते॒ न स्थि॒राय॒ न शर्ध॑ते॒ दस्यु॑जूताय स्त॒वान् । अज्रा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य गि॒रय॑श्चिदृ॒ष्वा ग॑म्भी॒रे चि॑द्भवति गा॒धम॑स्मै
na vīḷave namate na sthirāya na śardhate dasyujūtāya stavān ajrā indrasya girayaścidṛṣvā gambhīre cidbhavati gādhamasmai
He does not bow in the hollow cave, nor stand firm, nor readily utter praise for the Dasa‑richer. The hills of Indra are timeless, deep—let strength arise for this hero.

ग॒म्भी॒रेण॑ न उ॒रुणा॑मत्रि॒न्प्रेषो य॑न्धि सुतपाव॒न्वाजा॑न् । स्था ऊ॒ षु ऊ॒र्ध्व ऊ॒ती अरि॑षण्यन्न॒क्तोर्व्यु॑ष्टौ॒ परि॑तक्म्यायाम्
gambhīreṇa na uruṇāmatrinpreṣo yandhi sutapāvanvājān sthā ū ṣu ūrdhva ūtī ariṣaṇyannaktorvyuṣṭau paritakmyāyām
By the deep one a triple band was sent forth, they who stir the ascetic streams; the standing, the upward, the high—lo, they spread round for the sacrifice.

सच॑स्व ना॒यमव॑से अ॒भीक॑ इ॒तो वा॒ तमि॑न्द्र पाहि रि॒षः । अ॒मा चै॑न॒मर॑ण्ये पाहि रि॒षो मदे॑म श॒तहि॑माः सु॒वीराः॑
sacasva nāyamavase abhīka ito vā tamindra pāhi riṣaḥ amā cainamaraṇye pāhi riṣo madema śatahimāḥ suvīrāḥ
Grant us shelter; do not depart, O dreading one, protect from here, O seer. Protect us even in the perilous forest, seer; make us a hundred warriors, excellent heroes.
