Bring forth for us, at the bright rite, the clarified Soma for the earth’s law: the horses neigh within, they draw near the radiant one and bear him like oceans.

Men, fearing not to tread the earth, neither full nor wasting, move through cares. Those who behold from afar think of these as within; a man goes forth as if against destiny.

Like cows you cherish the highest horn; the sun does not withhold the beam of light. As if exceeding, noble herds flourish; so a man cherishes prosperity like a breast of abundance.

Who among the great drank like the great ones? Who of the Maruts is of the clans? You make the earth a ray, not striking it down, as when you bore deep for the well—grant prosperity in the gift.

Like horses, the restless and allied, brave as chargers, they advanced and fought. Rich as cows they grew; men are like the eye of the sun— they measure by the rains.

They were eldest, then younger, sprouted, middle and great they increased. Well-born, people, the strong ones like Pṛśni’s sons came forth; may the maruts grant us protection.

Hear this: the sky and earth have yielded; let notable ones not strive with the dawning light. They proclaimed the divine treasure—these Rudra-like maruts invoked the hosts.
