mama dvitā rāṣṭraṃ kṣatriyasya viśvāyorviśve amṛtā yathā naḥ kratuṃ sacante varuṇasya devā rājāmi kṛṣṭerupamasya vavreḥ
May my twofold realm be for the Kshatriya, for the all-wind, for the immortal as for us. The gods follow sacrifice of Varuṇa; I, king, invoke the form of the rind—may it spread.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 4, Sukta 42 · Verse 4.42.2
ahaṃ rājā varuṇo mahyaṃ tānyasuryāṇi prathamā dhārayanta kratuṃ sacante varuṇasya devā rājāmi kṛṣṭerupamasya vavreḥ
I am king, Varuṇa supports me; they first sustain the sunlike ones. The gods follow Varuṇa’s sacrifice; I, king, call forth the form of the rind—may it spread.

ahamindro varuṇaste mahitvorvī gabhīre rajasī sumeke tvaṣṭeva viśvā bhuvanāni vidvānsamairayaṃ rodasī dhārayaṃ ca
I am Indra, Varuṇa, your greatness is mighty; in the deep dust of rajas we are united. To Tvaṣṭṛ all the worlds are known—learned, I pour forth the radiant spear and uphold it.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 4, Sukta 42 · Verse 4.42.4
ahamapo apinvamukṣamāṇā dhārayaṃ divaṃ sadana ṛtasya ṛtena putro aditerṛtāvota tridhātu prathayadvi bhūma
I made waters, freeing them, and upheld the heaven’s seat of Ṛta. By Ṛta the son of the sun, the threefold craftsmen first caused expansion over the earth.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 4, Sukta 42 · Verse 4.42.5
māṃ naraḥ svaśvā vājayanto māṃ vṛtāḥ samaraṇe havante kṛṇomyājiṃ maghavāhamindra iyarmi reṇumabhibhūtyojāḥ
Men, with their own steeds, draw near me in the fight and perform the rites. Make my oblation, generous ones—O Indra, I move with the drops of rain and vigour.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 4, Sukta 42 · Verse 4.42.6
ahaṃ tā viśvā cakaraṃ nakirmā daivyaṃ saho varate apratītam yanmā somāso mamadanyadukthobhe bhayete rajasī apāre
I made and moved the universal wheel; the divine one has adorned the rite unexpectedly. What the Soma-drinkers name another’s hymn is feared—Rajas of the waters beyond.

You, knower, who know all worlds, speak those words for Varuṇa’s rite. Hear Vṛtras, slay them; bind the fetters of the Vṛtas, O Indra, like embankments of the rivers.

asmākamatra pitarasta āsansapta ṛṣayo daurgahe badhyamāne ta āyajanta trasadasyumasyā indraṃ na vṛtraturamardhadevam
Our fathers here, the seven seers, sat bound in the difficult house; they offered, trembling, sacrifices to induce fear of Indra, not the Vṛtra-slayer god the half-divine.

purukutsānī hi vāmadāśaddhavyebhirindrāvaruṇā namobhiḥ athā rājānaṃ trasadasyumasyā vṛtrahaṇaṃ dadathurardhadevam
Purukutsa and Vāmadaśa, praised by Indra and Varuṇa with salutations; thus they gave the trembling king the slaying of Vṛtra, and half the godly share.

rāyā vayaṃ sasavāṃso madema havyena devā yavasena gāvaḥ tāṃ dhenumindrāvaruṇā yuvaṃ no viśvāhā dhattamanapasphurantīm
We, with the twin Ashvins, offer you a feast with oblation of kine and plenteous cattle; Indra and Varuṇa, give that cow to us, O youthful ones, that you might bestow wide prosperity on us.
