cakṣuṣaḥ pitā manasā hi dhīro ghṛtamene ajanannannamāne yadedantā adadṛhanta pūrva ādiddyāvāpṛthivī aprathetām
Father of the eyes, of the mind is indeed the wise one who gave birth to ghee for the born and food for the living. Those that ate first, they seized the former, the primal sky and earth: let them not be thwarted.

Vishvakarman, maker by mind, the arranger, the establisher, bestower—he set in order. Their desires feast where the seven Ṛṣis declared one being: there they delight in union.

He who is our father, creator, establisher, who knows the abodes and all the worlds—he alone is the namer of gods. From him other beings, asking, go to the worlds.

They offered wealth; the ancient sages of old made offerings, not barren. The realized fashioned being, in the realm of the bright, placed what beings there were and made them like-minded.

Beyond is day, beyond is this earth; beyond are gods, demons—whatever exists. Who indeed first held the womb, where the waters in which all the gods beheld the worlds?

Those waters first bore that womb where the gods together entered all the worlds. The one navel of the unborn was offered; in it all the worlds stood.

We do not know who among you beheld these things; with obvious current speech the poets go forth, speaking the prayers and strains of song.
