इ॒मां धियं॑ स॒प्तशी॑र्ष्णीं पि॒ता न॑ ऋ॒तप्र॑जातां बृह॒तीम॑विन्दत् । तु॒रीयं॑ स्विज्जनयद्वि॒श्वज॑न्यो॒ऽयास्य॑ उ॒क्थमिन्द्रा॑य॒ शंस॑न्
imāṃ dhiyaṃ saptaśīrṣṇīṃ pitā na ṛtaprajātāṃ bṛhatīmavindat turīyaṃ svijjanayadviśvajanyo'yāsya ukthamindrāya śaṃsan
This wisdom, the seven-headed, the father who upheld cosmic order and made the mighty spread, brought forth a fourth, generating all peoples; singing praises to Indra he inspired the hymn.

ऋ॒तं शंस॑न्त ऋ॒जु दीध्या॑ना दि॒वस्पु॒त्रासो॒ असु॑रस्य वी॒राः । विप्रं॑ प॒दमङ्गि॑रसो॒ दधा॑ना य॒ज्ञस्य॒ धाम॑ प्रथ॒मं म॑नन्त
ṛtaṃ śaṃsanta ṛju dīdhyānā divasputrāso asurasya vīrāḥ vipraṃ padamaṅgiraso dadhānā yajñasya dhāma prathamaṃ mananta
Praising ṛta, the radiant sons of Dyaus, heroic asuras, set the straight law; the wise fixed the first abode of the yajña and held the exalted place.

हं॒सैरि॑व॒ सखि॑भि॒र्वाव॑दद्भिरश्म॒न्मया॑नि॒ नह॑ना॒ व्यस्य॑न् । बृह॒स्पति॑रभि॒कनि॑क्रद॒द्गा उ॒त प्रास्तौ॒दुच्च॑ वि॒द्वाँ अ॑गायत्
haṃsairiva sakhibhirvāvadadbhiraśmanmayāni nahanā vyasyan bṛhaspatirabhikanikradadgā uta prāstauducca vidvām̐ agāyat
Like swans with friends they moved through the beams; with mighty praise Bṛhaspati circled, and the wise uttered lofty hymns in the dawn.

अ॒वो द्वाभ्यां॑ प॒र एक॑या॒ गा गुहा॒ तिष्ठ॑न्ती॒रनृ॑तस्य॒ सेतौ॑ । बृह॒स्पति॒स्तम॑सि॒ ज्योति॑रि॒च्छन्नुदु॒स्रा आक॒र्वि हि ति॒स्र आवः॑
avo dvābhyāṃ para ekayā gā guhā tiṣṭhantīranṛtasya setau bṛhaspatistamasi jyotiricchannudusrā ākarvi hi tisra āvaḥ
They stood twofold, then single, baying in the cave where the dance’s cord is set. Bṛhaspati turned darkness toward light and called three streams forth.

वि॒भिद्या॒ पुरं॑ श॒यथे॒मपा॑चीं॒ निस्त्रीणि॑ सा॒कमु॑द॒धेर॑कृन्तत् । बृह॒स्पति॑रु॒षसं॒ सूर्यं॒ गाम॒र्कं वि॑वेद स्त॒नय॑न्निव॒ द्यौः
vibhidyā puraṃ śayathemapācīṃ nistrīṇi sākamudadherakṛntat bṛhaspatiruṣasaṃ sūryaṃ gāmarkaṃ viveda stanayanniva dyauḥ
He split the city apart, poured out the sacrificial offering, and struck the threefold floods down into the waters. Bṛhaspati set the sun in the assembly, revealing light as if the sky were milked.

इन्द्रो॑ व॒लं र॑क्षि॒तारं॒ दुघा॑नां क॒रेणे॑व॒ वि च॑कर्ता॒ रवे॑ण । स्वेदा॑ञ्जिभिरा॒शिर॑मि॒च्छमा॒नोऽरो॑दयत्प॒णिमा गा अ॑मुष्णात्
indro valaṃ rakṣitāraṃ dughānāṃ kareṇeva vi cakartā raveṇa svedāñjibhirāśiramicchamāno'rodayatpaṇimā gā amuṣṇāt
Indra, protector of wealth, guarded the milking kine with the thunderer’s deed. I desired the head crowned with sacred fat; at dawn the ox rose and the song drank it in.

स ईं॑ स॒त्येभिः॒ सखि॑भिः शु॒चद्भि॒र्गोधा॑यसं॒ वि ध॑न॒सैर॑दर्दः । ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पति॒र्वृष॑भिर्व॒राहै॑र्घ॒र्मस्वे॑देभि॒र्द्रवि॑णं॒ व्या॑नट्
sa īṃ satyebhiḥ sakhibhiḥ śucadbhirgodhāyasaṃ vi dhanasairadardaḥ brahmaṇaspatirvṛṣabhirvarāhairgharmasvedebhirdraviṇaṃ vyānaṭ
He, true with friends, pure in rites, rich in kine and possessions, the lord of Brahman, with bulls and boars and warm offerings, drove forth the wealth and distributed the streams.

ते स॒त्येन॒ मन॑सा॒ गोप॑तिं॒ गा इ॑या॒नास॑ इषणयन्त धी॒भिः । बृह॒स्पति॑र्मि॒थोअ॑वद्यपेभि॒रुदु॒स्रिया॑ असृजत स्व॒युग्भिः॑
te satyena manasā gopatiṃ gā iyānāsa iṣaṇayanta dhībhiḥ bṛhaspatirmithoavadyapebhirudusriyā asṛjata svayugbhiḥ
With truthful mind they sought the lord of kine; the singers urged the herds. Bṛhaspati made alliances with hymns and fashioned order with his associates.

तं व॒र्धय॑न्तो म॒तिभिः॑ शि॒वाभिः॑ सिं॒हमि॑व॒ नान॑दतं स॒धस्थे॑ । बृह॒स्पतिं॒ वृष॑णं॒ शूर॑सातौ॒ भरे॑भरे॒ अनु॑ मदेम जि॒ष्णुम्
taṃ vardhayanto matibhiḥ śivābhiḥ siṃhamiva nānadataṃ sadhasthe bṛhaspatiṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ śūrasātau bharebhare anu madema jiṣṇum
Growing him with mindful, auspicious counsels, like a lion he rejoiced in the seat. Bṛhaspati, bull-like and brave, furnished abundance and inspired our striving.

य॒दा वाज॒मस॑नद्वि॒श्वरू॑प॒मा द्यामरु॑क्ष॒दुत्त॑राणि॒ सद्म॑ । बृह॒स्पतिं॒ वृष॑णं व॒र्धय॑न्तो॒ नाना॒ सन्तो॒ बिभ्र॑तो॒ ज्योति॑रा॒सा
yadā vājamasanadviśvarūpamā dyāmarukṣaduttarāṇi sadma bṛhaspatiṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vardhayanto nānā santo bibhrato jyotirāsā
When the prize-wealth assumed manifold forms, they kept the eastern boards; Bṛhaspati, increasing the bull-like, bore many shining streams by various rites.

स॒त्यामा॒शिषं॑ कृणुता वयो॒धै की॒रिं चि॒द्ध्यव॑थ॒ स्वेभि॒रेवैः॑ । प॒श्चा मृधो॒ अप॑ भवन्तु॒ विश्वा॒स्तद्रो॑दसी शृणुतं विश्वमि॒न्वे
satyāmāśiṣaṃ kṛṇutā vayodhai kīriṃ ciddhyavatha svebhirevaiḥ paścā mṛdho apa bhavantu viśvāstadrodasī śaṛṇutaṃ viśvaminve
They made a true benediction, great praise and celebrated with their own hymns. Let what was gentle be afterward—behold all—as you hear, O people.

इन्द्रो॑ म॒ह्ना म॑ह॒तो अ॑र्ण॒वस्य॒ वि मू॒र्धान॑मभिनदर्बु॒दस्य॑ । अह॒न्नहि॒मरि॑णात्स॒प्त सिन्धू॑न्दे॒वैर्द्या॑वापृथिवी॒ प्राव॑तं नः
indro mahnā mahato arṇavasya vi mūrdhānamabhinadarbudasya ahannahimariṇātsapta sindhūndevairdyāvāpṛthivī prāvataṃ naḥ
Indra, mighty with the greatness of the sea, made obeisance to the ocean’s summit. When the day conquered the mountain-bound foe, the seven rivers, gods of the flood, moved over earth for us.
