ahaṃ bhuvaṃ vasunaḥ pūrvyaspatirahaṃ dhanāni saṃ jayāmi śaśvataḥ māṃ havante pitaraṃ na jantavo'haṃ dāśuṣe vi bhajāmi bhojanam
I am the being, erstwhile lord of wealth; I made riches grow for myself and prevail forever. The fathers invoke me — not as living beings; I divide food to the servitors.

I am Indra, restrainer, and Atharvan; we kindled the threefold song on the plain. Against foes I encircle men, giving clan-teaching and the sacred mother’s help to the chariot-ward.

The smith fashioned the bolt of thunder for me; even the gods have not removed my sacred power. Like the sun’s hard ring it resists those who oppress me by deed and counsel.

I am this cattle, these steeds, this beast, this fecund herd, this treasure of gold by the evening offering. I give to the servitors a thousandfold share; may not the singers nullify the soma for me.

ahamindro na parā jigya iddhanaṃ na mṛtyave'va tasthe kadā cana somaminmā sunvanto yācatā vasu na me pūravaḥ sakhye riṣāthana
I am Indra; no one surpasses my hunger for wealth, nor am I subject to death—so be it. Those who sing for soma, O Vasus, invoke me first and befriend me.

ahametāñchāśvasato dvādvendraṃ ye vajraṃ yudhaye'kṛṇvata āhvayamānām̐ ava hanmanāhanaṃ dṛḷhā vadannanamasyurnamasvinaḥ
I am he who breathed these two, the twain Indras, who seized the thunder to contend; when called, they slew the slayer—resolute, they spoke and humbled the foes of the Nasatya twins.

abhī3damekameko asmi niṣṣāḷabhī dvā kimu trayaḥ karanti khale na parṣānprati hanmi bhūri kiṃ mā nindanti śatravo'nindrāḥ
I am one without two, single, fearless; who then are the three that strive? I do not slay the praise-worthy man; how much they revile me, enemies not like Indra.

I set the guest-feast before the gungas; I strove against Vritra’s doom and upheld it. Whatever leaf-sunderer or strong thorn I set forth, I spoke it for great slaying of Vritra and for fame.

Grant me that bow which I desire, O friend: let it make twofold the herds of kine and the bond of cows; let it flash among the assemblies; give me, O singers, the praised, daring deed.

In the dwelling-places of bounds the soma within guards the enclosures; he set the lustrous-horned bull eager for battle, bound many within and stood firm inside.

I will not enumerate the abodes of the Adityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the gods of gods. May they grant us auspicious offerings; let them be the invincible triple spear and the hard celestial shaft.
