आ नो॑ दे॒वाना॒मुप॑ वेतु॒ शंसो॒ विश्वे॑भिस्तु॒रैरव॑से॒ यज॑त्रः । तेभि॑र्व॒यं सु॑ष॒खायो॑ भवेम॒ तर॑न्तो॒ विश्वा॑ दुरि॒ता स्या॑म
ā no devānāmupa vetu śaṃso viśvebhisturairavase yajatraḥ tebhirvayaṃ suṣakhāyo bhavema taranto viśvā duritā syāma
May praise come to us from the gods; may the worshipper sit among all the folk and be present with them. With their help may we be prosperous, passing through all hardships.

परि॑ चि॒न्मर्तो॒ द्रवि॑णं ममन्यादृ॒तस्य॑ प॒था नम॒सा वि॑वासेत् । उ॒त स्वेन॒ क्रतु॑ना॒ सं व॑देत॒ श्रेयां॑सं॒ दक्षं॒ मन॑सा जगृभ्यात्
pari cinmarto draviṇaṃ mamanyādṛtasya pathā namasā vivāset uta svena kratunā saṃ vadeta śreyāṃsaṃ dakṣaṃ manasā jagṛbhyāt
Surround and observe my wealth; let rites and offerings guard the paths. With his own sacrifice let him speak together, having seized the excellent thought with a skilful mind.

अधा॑यि धी॒तिरस॑सृग्र॒मंशा॑स्ती॒र्थे न द॒स्ममुप॑ य॒न्त्यूमाः॑ । अ॒भ्या॑नश्म सुवि॒तस्य॑ शू॒षं नवे॑दसो अ॒मृता॑नामभूम
adhāyi dhītirasasṛgramaṃśāstīrthe na dasmamupa yantyūmāḥ abhyānaśma suvitasya śūṣaṃ navedaso amṛtānāmabhūma
Deep is the thought placed below; let no hostile mouth approach the sacred place. For the well-protected one the dry plain of the new day is the immortals' abode, the land of nectar.

नित्य॑श्चाकन्या॒त्स्वप॑ति॒र्दमू॑ना॒ यस्मा॑ उ दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता ज॒जान॑ । भगो॑ वा॒ गोभि॑रर्य॒मेम॑नज्या॒त्सो अ॑स्मै॒ चारु॑श्छदयदु॒त स्या॑त्
nityaścākanyātsvapatirdamūnā yasmā u devaḥ savitā jajāna bhago vā gobhiraryamemanajyātso asmai cāruśchadayaduta syāt
Ever pure is Svāpati, lord of cows, whom the god Savitṛ fashioned. May the blessed calf, nourished by cows, bring generous bounty to him; may the shining messenger be pleasing to us.

इ॒यं सा भू॑या उ॒षसा॑मिव॒ क्षा यद्ध॑ क्षु॒मन्तः॒ शव॑सा स॒माय॑न् । अ॒स्य स्तु॒तिं ज॑रि॒तुर्भिक्ष॑माणा॒ आ नः॑ श॒ग्मास॒ उप॑ यन्तु॒ वाजाः॑
iyaṃ sā bhūyā uṣasāmiva kṣā yaddha kṣumantaḥ śavasā samāyan asya stutiṃ jariturbhikṣamāṇā ā naḥ śagmāsa upa yantu vājāḥ
She is again like the dawn, spreading forgiveness; overtaken by breath they come together. Let the singers bring praise to her, those who offer food—may the strengths come to us.

अ॒स्येदे॒षा सु॑म॒तिः प॑प्रथा॒नाभ॑वत्पू॒र्व्या भूम॑ना॒ गौः । अ॒स्य सनी॑ळा॒ असु॑रस्य॒ योनौ॑ समा॒न आ भर॑णे॒ बिभ्र॑माणाः
asyedeṣā sumatiḥ paprathānābhavatpūrvyā bhūmanā gauḥ asya sanīḷā asurasya yonau samāna ā bharaṇe bibhramāṇāḥ
This is the good thought that first arose from the earth, like cows. Its two breasts are the source of the lordly offspring, bearing alike in their wombs as they revolve.

किं स्वि॒द्वनं॒ क उ॒ स वृ॒क्ष आ॑स॒ यतो॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी नि॑ष्टत॒क्षुः । सं॒त॒स्था॒ने अ॒जरे॑ इ॒तऊ॑ती॒ अहा॑नि पू॒र्वीरु॒षसो॑ जरन्त
kiṃ svidvanaṃ ka u sa vṛkṣa āsa yato dyāvāpṛthivī niṣṭatakṣuḥ saṃtasthāne ajare itaūtī ahāni pūrvīruṣaso jaranta
What indeed is the forest? What is that tree whereon heaven and earth were fixed? In that abiding place the days age and pass; the ancient rising days grow old.

नैताव॑दे॒ना प॒रो अ॒न्यद॑स्त्यु॒क्षा स द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी बि॑भर्ति । त्वचं॑ प॒वित्रं॑ कृणुत स्व॒धावा॒न्यदीं॒ सूर्यं॒ न ह॒रितो॒ वह॑न्ति
naitāvadenā paro anyadastyukṣā sa dyāvāpṛthivī bibharti tvacaṃ pavitraṃ kṛṇuta svadhāvānyadīṃ sūryaṃ na harito vahanti
There is not beyond this another as support; heaven and earth bear together. Make your skin pure, perform sacred rites; other suns do not carry away what is green.

स्ते॒गो न क्षामत्ये॑ति पृ॒थ्वीं मिहं॒ न वातो॒ वि ह॑ वाति॒ भूम॑ । मि॒त्रो यत्र॒ वरु॑णो अ॒ज्यमा॑नो॒ऽग्निर्वने॒ न व्यसृ॑ष्ट॒ शोक॑म्
stego na kṣāmatyeti pṛthvīṃ mihaṃ na vāto vi ha vāti bhūma mitro yatra varuṇo ajyamāno'gnirvane na vyasṛṣṭa śokam
They will not abandon the earth, nor will the winds spread it away. Where Mitra and Varuṇa, foremost, and Agni untouched dwell in the forest, sorrow is not poured out.

स्त॒रीर्यत्सूत॑ स॒द्यो अ॒ज्यमा॑ना॒ व्यथि॑रव्य॒थीः कृ॑णुत॒ स्वगो॑पा । पु॒त्रो यत्पूर्वः॑ पि॒त्रोर्जनि॑ष्ट श॒म्यां गौर्ज॑गार॒ यद्ध॑ पृ॒च्छान्
starīryatsūta sadyo ajyamānā vyathiravyathīḥ kṛṇuta svagopā putro yatpūrvaḥ pitrorjaniṣṭa śamyāṃ gaurjagāra yaddha pṛcchān
What is born quickly becomes established; the herdsman makes restless those who suffer. The son who is first, the father who is foremost—let the cow-singer rouse the needed aid when asked.

उ॒त कण्वं॑ नृ॒षदः॑ पु॒त्रमा॑हुरु॒त श्या॒वो धन॒माद॑त्त वा॒जी । प्र कृ॒ष्णाय॒ रुश॑दपिन्व॒तोध॑रृ॒तमत्र॒ नकि॑रस्मा अपीपेत्
uta kaṇvaṃ nṛṣadaḥ putramāhuruta śyāvo dhanamādatta vājī pra kṛṣṇāya ruśadapinvatodharṛtamatra nakirasmā apīpet
Thus Kānva and Nṛṣada named a son: the dark one took wealth and cattle. For Krishna the strong, Rūṣad bore praise and support; thereby not even the sting or reproach afflicted them.
