Not in the forest did he cast down the clean one — the praise resounded with vigorous voice; Indra is foremost among men in days of battle, the priest of men, the performer of rites.

May we reach the rising Dawn, may we be in her dance, in the dance of men. A hundred sorrow-bringing ones followed, the chariot of the slanderer who brought false companions.

Who among you, O Indra, pierced my foes — by his fierce speech he advanced and ran; when will I, O friend, have wisdom to reach you with food like the praised banquet?

When did mighty Indra from heaven make you a man endowed with thought? Mitra is not false like a lordly ox; companions gathered in food when intelligence was lacking.

Only a measured praise to you, O Indra, before the heavens with stone, earth and crafted verses. Bestow to them the ghee-bearing sons; may they be pleasant to drink the meads.
