द्वे विरू॑पे चरतः॒ स्वर्थे॑ अ॒न्यान्या॑ व॒त्समुप॑ धापयेते । हरि॑र॒न्यस्यां॒ भव॑ति स्व॒धावा॑ञ्छु॒क्रो अ॒न्यस्यां॑ ददृशे सु॒वर्चाः॑
dve virūpe carataḥ svarthe anyānyā vatsamupa dhāpayete hariranyasyāṃ bhavati svadhāvāñchukro anyasyāṃ dadṛśe suvarcāḥ
Two in form roam for themselves and hunt another’s calves. In the pasture of Hari-ranya there is desire; in another place the bright (one) was seen.

दशे॒मं त्वष्टु॑र्जनयन्त॒ गर्भ॒मत॑न्द्रासो युव॒तयो॒ विभृ॑त्रम् । ति॒ग्मानी॑कं॒ स्वय॑शसं॒ जने॑षु वि॒रोच॑मानं॒ परि॑ षीं नयन्ति
daśemaṃ tvaṣṭurjanayanta garbhamatandrāso yuvatayo vibhṛtram tigmānīkaṃ svayaśasaṃ janeṣu virocamānaṃ pari ṣīṃ nayanti
Tvashṭṛ fashioned ten wombs, bringing forth from slumber the youthful maidens who bear offspring. Bearing their own fame, the three-pronged (beings) shining among people lead forth the bright ones around the world.

त्रीणि॒ जाना॒ परि॑ भूषन्त्यस्य समु॒द्र एकं॑ दि॒व्येक॑म॒प्सु । पूर्वा॒मनु॒ प्र दिशं॒ पार्थि॑वानामृ॒तून्प्र॒शास॒द्वि द॑धावनु॒ष्ठु
trīṇi jānā pari bhūṣantyasya samudra ekaṃ divyekamapsu pūrvāmanu pra diśaṃ pārthivānāmṛtūnpraśāsadvi dadhāvanuṣṭhu
Three peoples adorn themselves; the ocean is one, the waters divine. Facing east they kept watch, governing the mortals; they performed rites together.

क इ॒मं वो॑ नि॒ण्यमा चि॑केत व॒त्सो मा॒तॄर्ज॑नयत स्व॒धाभिः॑ । ब॒ह्वी॒नां गर्भो॑ अ॒पसा॑मु॒पस्था॑न्म॒हान्क॒विर्निश्च॑रति स्व॒धावा॑न्
ka imaṃ vo niṇyamā ciketa vatso mātṝrjanayata svadhābhiḥ bahvīnāṃ garbho apasāmupasthānmahānkavirniścarati svadhāvān
Who among you knows this, O mothers, who produced from the sacrificial fires? Many wombs were established in the waters; the great seer stipulated and remained devoted to the oblations.

आ॒विष्ट्यो॑ वर्धते॒ चारु॑रासु जि॒ह्माना॑मू॒र्ध्वः स्वय॑शा उ॒पस्थे॑ । उ॒भे त्वष्टु॑र्बिभ्यतु॒र्जाय॑मानात्प्रती॒ची सिं॒हं प्रति॑ जोषयेते
āviṣṭyo vardhate cārurāsu jihmānāmūrdhvaḥ svayaśā upasthe ubhe tvaṣṭurbibhyaturjāyamānātpratīcī siṃhaṃ prati joṣayete
Having entered, it increases in the fair ones; rising above the hymns, their own fame stood forth. From the two Tvashṭṛs being born, the eastern lion was roused and rejoiced.

उ॒भे भ॒द्रे जो॑षयेते॒ न मेने॒ गावो॒ न वा॒श्रा उप॑ तस्थु॒रेवैः॑ । स दक्षा॑णां॒ दक्ष॑पतिर्बभूवा॒ञ्जन्ति॒ यं द॑क्षिण॒तो ह॒विर्भिः॑
ubhe bhadre joṣayete na mene gāvo na vāśrā upa tasthurevaiḥ sa dakṣāṇāṃ dakṣapatirbabhūvāñjanti yaṃ dakṣiṇato havirbhiḥ
Both auspicious ones may rejoice; may they not drive away my cows nor the kine of another; may they stand near us. Let him be the lord of the Dakṣas; let him be invoked with offerings from the south.

उद्यं॑यमीति सवि॒तेव॑ बा॒हू उ॒भे सिचौ॑ यतते भी॒म ऋ॒ञ्जन् । उच्छु॒क्रमत्क॑मजते सि॒मस्मा॒न्नवा॑ मा॒तृभ्यो॒ वस॑ना जहाति
udyaṃyamīti saviteva bāhū ubhe sicau yatate bhīma ṛñjan ucchukramatkamajate simasmānnavā mātṛbhyo vasanā jahāti
As the sun (Savitṛ) rises both arms press, striving, the terrible one who rends. He casts forth the rushing surge; from mothers he throws off desire and dwelling.

त्वे॒षं रू॒पं कृ॑णुत॒ उत्त॑रं॒ यत्स॑म्पृञ्चा॒नः सद॑ने॒ गोभि॑र॒द्भिः । क॒विर्बु॒ध्नं परि॑ मर्मृज्यते॒ धीः सा दे॒वता॑ता॒ समि॑तिर्बभूव
tveṣaṃ rūpaṃ kṛṇuta uttaraṃ yatsampṛñcānaḥ sadane gobhiradbhiḥ kavirbudhnaṃ pari marmṛjyate dhīḥ sā devatātā samitirbabhūva
Make for him that form which is higher, which fills the dwelling with cattle and kine. The seer, pondering deeply his mind, became like a deity, thus it was proclaimed.

उ॒रु ते॒ ज्रयः॒ पर्ये॑ति बु॒ध्नं वि॒रोच॑मानं महि॒षस्य॒ धाम॑ । विश्वे॑भिरग्ने॒ स्वय॑शोभिरि॒द्धोऽद॑ब्धेभिः पा॒युभिः॑ पाह्य॒स्मान्
uru te jrayaḥ paryeti budhnaṃ virocamānaṃ mahiṣasya dhāma viśvebhiragne svayaśobhiriddho'dabdhebhiḥ pāyubhiḥ pāhyasmān
Your broad splendour comes forth; the shining mind reaches the strong abode of the buffalo. May Agni, adorned by all, with his own glories and oceans, protect us with his waters.

धन्व॒न्स्रोतः॑ कृणुते गा॒तुमू॒र्मिं शु॒क्रैरू॒र्मिभि॑र॒भि न॑क्षति॒ क्षाम् । विश्वा॒ सना॑नि ज॒ठरे॑षु धत्ते॒ऽन्तर्नवा॑सु चरति प्र॒सूषु॑
dhanvansrotaḥ kṛṇute gātumūrmiṃ śukrairūrmibhirabhi nakṣati kṣām viśvā sanāni jaṭhareṣu dhatte'ntarnavāsu carati prasūṣu
The archer directs the stream; he goes to strike with bright waves, yet spares the fault. He places all seeds within the bellies; the inner breaths move about in the births.

ए॒वा नो॑ अग्ने स॒मिधा॑ वृधा॒नो रे॒वत्पा॑वक॒ श्रव॑से॒ वि भा॑हि । तन्नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो मामहन्ता॒मदि॑तिः॒ सिन्धुः॑ पृथि॒वी उ॒त द्यौः
evā no agne samidhā vṛdhāno revatpāvaka śravase vi bhāhi tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ
Thus, O Agni, place for us the fuel of the great—resounding, purifying, luminous—bring forth to hearing. May Mitra, Varuṇa, the mighty Aditi, the Sindhu, the earth and the heavens be for our help.
