Do not in this house, O generous one, laugh scornfully at me; within you there is not the death of breath. Do not shout aloud, nor break into weeping; how shall I not be terrified by formidable foes?

Worship (arca) to Śakra, to the powerful one, to the mighty spouse of Śacī; hear, O Indra, as he greatly augments the sky—hail! By bold breath and by breath he roared; both bulls, becoming virile bulls, the bull exults.

Worship to the great splendour in the sky, the ear of speech, his own dominion whose mind is steadfast and whose heart is bold. The great-hearing Asura, the sacrificer, performed the rite; the bull indeed draws the chariot toward the gods.

You shattered the mighty spear of the heaven with anger, O bold one, striking the herd with your strength. What crafty hordes, the slow-moving bands, with stubborn minds you pierced; you cleft the stone-like mass and broke its firmness.

When you chose the desired head of the breathing one and the dry, the crafty band roared aloud. With ancient mind like the sacrificers’ they, having made clear the present, who are you all around?

You brought forth men threefold, you yourself threefold; you made the triple song, O hundred-minded one. You made this chariot, in wealth you made the city anew, you made nine vanities.

He is the king, the true lord, the guardian; the people obeyed, the nightly protector who governs. Whoever seizes the hymns and takes the chant, with radiance he pours forth gifts; the heaven rains down above.

A realm unequalled, wisdom unequalled—may the drinkers of soma and the libations be many. Those whom Indra gave, who enlarge the great realm, the steadfast realm and the heroic bounty.
