न्यू॒३॒॑ षु वाचं॒ प्र म॒हे भ॑रामहे॒ गिर॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ सद॑ने वि॒वस्व॑तः । नू चि॒द्धि रत्नं॑ सस॒तामि॒वावि॑द॒न्न दु॑ष्टु॒तिर्द्र॑विणो॒देषु॑ शस्यते
nyū3 ṣu vācaṃ pra mahe bharāmahe gira indrāya sadane vivasvataḥ nū ciddhi ratnaṃ sasatāmivāvidanna duṣṭutirdraviṇodeṣu śasyate
Now we lift up this word and bear the weight of speech; we extol Indra in his hall of brightness. Now the hymn, like a jewel among the eternal, is adored—yet slander damages coins among the gains.

दु॒रो अश्व॑स्य दु॒र इ॑न्द्र॒ गोर॑सि दु॒रो यव॑स्य॒ वसु॑न इ॒नस्पतिः॑ । शि॒क्षा॒न॒रः प्र॒दिवो॒ अका॑मकर्शनः॒ सखा॒ सखि॑भ्य॒स्तमि॒दं गृ॑णीमसि
duro aśvasya dura indra gorasi duro yavasya vasuna inaspatiḥ śikṣānaraḥ pradivo akāmakarśanaḥ sakhā sakhibhyastamidaṃ gṛṇīmasi
Hard to harness is the horse, hard to bind is Indra’s might; hard is the wealth of cows, hard the yield of grain. The spur of worship brings forth the unattached; friend to friends, I take up this praise.

शची॑व इन्द्र पुरुकृद्द्युमत्तम॒ तवेदि॒दम॒भित॑श्चेकिते॒ वसु॑ । अतः॑ सं॒गृभ्या॑भिभूत॒ आ भ॑र॒ मा त्वा॑य॒तो ज॑रि॒तुः काम॑मूनयीः
śacīva indra purukṛddyumattama tavedidamabhitaścekite vasu ataḥ saṃgṛbhyābhibhūta ā bhara mā tvāyato jarituḥ kāmamūnayīḥ
Like Shachi, Indra, famed for mighty deeds and radiant, you stood before me, O Vasus, and drove away anger. Therefore, gathering strength you overwhelmed and bore me; may you, active in nourishing desire, make me prosperous.

ए॒भिर्द्युभिः॑ सु॒मना॑ ए॒भिरिन्दु॑भिर्निरुन्धा॒नो अम॑तिं॒ गोभि॑र॒श्विना॑ । इन्द्रे॑ण॒ दस्युं॑ द॒रय॑न्त॒ इन्दु॑भिर्यु॒तद्वे॑षसः॒ समि॒षा र॑भेमहि
ebhirdyubhiḥ sumanā ebhirindubhirnirundhāno amatiṃ gobhiraśvinā indreṇa dasyuṃ darayanta indubhiryutadveṣasaḥ samiṣā rabhemahi
With these bright ones, with minds pure, with rising moons, with undeceiving cattle and swift steeds, by Indra’s might may we rend the hostile foe; by paired moons and shining raiment may we obtain abundant profit.

समि॑न्द्र रा॒या समि॒षा र॑भेमहि॒ सं वाजे॑भिः पुरुश्च॒न्द्रैर॒भिद्यु॑भिः । सं दे॒व्या प्रम॑त्या वी॒रशु॑ष्मया॒ गोअ॑ग्र॒याश्वा॑वत्या रभेमहि
samindra rāyā samiṣā rabhemahi saṃ vājebhiḥ puruścandrairabhidyubhiḥ saṃ devyā pramatyā vīraśuṣmayā goagrayāśvāvatyā rabhemahi
With Indra’s might, with raiment we will obtain riches; with many bulls, with glorious lunar‑beams, with heroes swift in strength we will win. With divine counsel, with brisk heroic vigor, with foremost cows and swift horses we will gain abundance.

ते त्वा॒ मदा॑ अमद॒न्तानि॒ वृष्ण्या॒ ते सोमा॑सो वृत्र॒हत्ये॑षु सत्पते । यत्का॒रवे॒ दश॑ वृ॒त्राण्य॑प्र॒ति ब॒र्हिष्म॑ते॒ नि स॒हस्रा॑णि ब॒र्हयः॑
te tvā madā amadantāni vṛṣṇyā te somāso vṛtrahatyeṣu satpate yatkārave daśa vṛtrāṇyaprati barhiṣmate ni sahasrāṇi barhayaḥ
They, those winsome enemies, have tasted not intoxication; they are your Soma‑drinking slayers of Vritra, O lord. When you struck ten thousand Vrtras not opposing the hymn, you hurled thousands of curses away.

यु॒धा युध॒मुप॒ घेदे॑षि धृष्णु॒या पु॒रा पुरं॒ समि॒दं हं॒स्योज॑सा । नम्या॒ यदि॑न्द्र॒ सख्या॑ परा॒वति॑ निब॒र्हयो॒ नमु॑चिं॒ नाम॑ मा॒यिन॑म्
yudhā yudhamupa ghedeṣi dhṛṣṇuyā purā puraṃ samidaṃ haṃsyojasā namyā yadindra sakhyā parāvati nibarhayo namuciṃ nāma māyinam
When in battle you smote and pierced with bold might the town long ago, with fierce force and valiant fury; if Indra the companion overcomes, drive out the foe—hail him not, O magician.

त्वं कर॑ञ्जमु॒त प॒र्णयं॑ वधी॒स्तेजि॑ष्ठयातिथि॒ग्वस्य॑ वर्त॒नी । त्वं श॒ता वङ्गृ॑दस्याभिन॒त्पुरो॑ऽनानु॒दः परि॑षूता ऋ॒जिश्व॑ना
tvaṃ karañjamuta parṇayaṃ vadhīstejiṣṭhayātithigvasya vartanī tvaṃ śatā vaṅgṛdasyābhinatpuro'nānudaḥ pariṣūtā ṛjiśvanā
You, bearer of the curved reed and leafy spear, conqueror gifted with foremost splendor, guest of the mighty hymn: you are the hundred‑voiced speaker adorned before; with straight‑swift steeds you are well‑surrounded.

त्वमे॒ताञ्ज॑न॒राज्ञो॒ द्विर्दशा॑ब॒न्धुना॑ सु॒श्रव॑सोपज॒ग्मुषः॑ । ष॒ष्टिं स॒हस्रा॑ नव॒तिं नव॑ श्रु॒तो नि च॒क्रेण॒ रथ्या॑ दु॒ष्पदा॑वृणक्
tvametāñjanarājño dvirdaśābandhunā suśravasopajagmuṣaḥ ṣaṣṭiṃ sahasrā navatiṃ nava śruto ni cakreṇa rathyā duṣpadāvṛṇak
You, wise ruler among rulers, who by twofold ten‑fold kinships arose celebrated, heard nine times sixty‑thousand and ninety; by the wheel of chariot you assumed difficult paths.

त्वमा॑विथ सु॒श्रव॑सं॒ तवो॒तिभि॒स्तव॒ त्राम॑भिरिन्द्र॒ तूर्व॑याणम् । त्वम॑स्मै॒ कुत्स॑मतिथि॒ग्वमा॒युं म॒हे राज्ञे॒ यूने॑ अरन्धनायः
tvamāvitha suśravasaṃ tavotibhistava trāmabhirindra tūrvayāṇam tvamasmai kutsamatithigvamāyuṃ mahe rājñe yūne arandhanāyaḥ
You, the noble friend of fame, have borne the famed; by your aid, O Indra, the swift ones of the clan surged forth. You grant life to him whose home is praised; O king, grant longevity to the youthful Arandhana.

य उ॒दृची॑न्द्र दे॒वगो॑पाः॒ सखा॑यस्ते शि॒वत॑मा॒ असा॑म । त्वां स्तो॑षाम॒ त्वया॑ सु॒वीरा॒ द्राघी॑य॒ आयुः॑ प्रत॒रं दधा॑नाः
ya udṛcīndra devagopāḥ sakhāyaste śivatamā asāma tvāṃ stoṣāma tvayā suvīrā drāghīya āyuḥ prataraṃ dadhānāḥ
He who is beloved of Indra, guardian of gods, thy companions are most auspicious. We praise you; by you the heroes become affluent—grant life daily to our bounties.
