अश्वं॒ न त्वा॒ वार॑वन्तं व॒न्दध्या॑ अ॒ग्निं नमो॑भिः । स॒म्राज॑न्तमध्व॒राणा॑म्
aśvaṃ na tvā vāravantaṃ vandadhyā agniṃ namobhiḥ samrājantamadhvarāṇām
We do not worship you as a houseless one, O Agni; salutations to you who traverse the paths and are praised by many rulers.

स घा॑ नः सू॒नुः शव॑सा पृ॒थुप्र॑गामा सु॒शेवः॑ । मी॒ढ्वाँ अ॒स्माकं॑ बभूयात्
sa ghā naḥ sūnuḥ śavasā pṛthupragāmā suśevaḥ mīḍhvām̐ asmākaṃ babhūyāt
He is the strong singer with the body, the widely eminent one, the well‑served; may he become our protector.

स नो॑ दू॒राच्चा॒साच्च॒ नि मर्त्या॑दघा॒योः । पा॒हि सद॒मिद्वि॒श्वायुः॑
sa no dūrāccāsācca ni martyādaghāyoḥ pāhi sadamidviśvāyuḥ
May he protect us from distant and near, from mortal and evil foes; guard the true one, O all-breathing one.

imamū ṣu tvamasmākaṃ saniṃ gāyatraṃ navyāṃsam agne deveṣu pra vocaḥ
You, O Agni, sing for us this new Gāyatrī here; the god spoke forth among the gods.

आ नो॑ भज पर॒मेष्वा वाजे॑षु मध्य॒मेषु॑ । शिक्षा॒ वस्वो॒ अन्त॑मस्य
ā no bhaja parameṣvā vājeṣu madhyameṣu śikṣā vasvo antamasya
Worship for us the highest among sacrifices, the midmost among the strengths; grant instruction to the dwelling’s end.

वि॒भ॒क्तासि॑ चित्रभानो॒ सिन्धो॑रू॒र्मा उ॑पा॒क आ । स॒द्यो दा॒शुषे॑ क्षरसि
vibhaktāsi citrabhāno sindhorūrmā upāka ā sadyo dāśuṣe kṣarasi
You are divided, wondrous-shining, like the Sindhu’s foaming flood coming close; at once you give riches, you rip through enemies.

यम॑ग्ने पृ॒त्सु मर्त्य॒मवा॒ वाजे॑षु॒ यं जु॒नाः । स यन्ता॒ शश्व॑ती॒रिषः॑
yamagne pṛtsu martyamavā vājeṣu yaṃ junāḥ sa yantā śaśvatīriṣaḥ
Agni, when among the breasts of mortals and in the strengths of young men, he goes — those go on, eternal as rivers.

नकि॑रस्य सहन्त्य पर्ये॒ता कय॑स्य चित् । वाजो॑ अस्ति श्र॒वाय्यः॑
nakirasya sahantya paryetā kayasya cit vājo asti śravāyyaḥ
The mare endures the yokeband; to whom, indeed, does she belong? The steed is for the listener.

स वाजं॑ वि॒श्वच॑र्षणि॒रर्व॑द्भिरस्तु॒ तरु॑ता । विप्रे॑भिरस्तु॒ सनि॑ता
sa vājaṃ viśvacarṣaṇirarvadbhirastu tarutā viprebhirastu sanitā
He restrained the fierce, all-striving blow with all-around strength; he restrained it with the press of the youthful trees, with the assembled might of the Brahmanas.

जरा॑बोध॒ तद्वि॑विड्ढि वि॒शेवि॑शे य॒ज्ञिया॑य । स्तोमं॑ रु॒द्राय॒ दृशी॑कम्
jarābodha tadviviḍḍhi viśeviśe yajñiyāya stomaṃ rudrāya dṛśīkam
Hear, O Rudra: awaken and rouse; make clear and manifest what is due to sacrifice. May the hymn be visible to Rudra.

स नो॑ म॒हाँ अ॑निमा॒नो धू॒मके॑तुः पुरुश्च॒न्द्रः । धि॒ये वाजा॑य हिन्वतु
sa no mahām̐ animāno dhūmaketuḥ puruścandraḥ dhiye vājāya hinvatu
May that great, subtle, smoke-signalling Purusha protect us; may he, splendid, win intelligence for strength.

स रे॒वाँ इ॑व वि॒श्पति॒र्दैव्यः॑ के॒तुः शृ॑णोतु नः । उ॒क्थैर॒ग्निर्बृ॒हद्भा॑नुः
sa revām̐ iva viśpatirdaivyaḥ ketuḥ śaṛṇotu naḥ ukthairagnirbṛhadbhānuḥ
May the lofty Lord of creation, the divine Ketu, hear us; may Agni, the mighty radiant one, be pleased with our hymns.

नमो॑ म॒हद्भ्यो॒ नमो॑ अर्भ॒केभ्यो॒ नमो॒ युव॑भ्यो॒ नम॑ आशि॒नेभ्यः॑ । यजा॑म दे॒वान्यदि॑ श॒क्नवा॑म॒ मा ज्याय॑सः॒ शंस॒मा वृ॑क्षि देवाः
namo mahadbhyo namo arbhakebhyo namo yuvabhyo nama āśinebhyaḥ yajāma devānyadi śaknavāma mā jyāyasaḥ śaṃsamā vṛkṣi devāḥ
Salutations to the great, salutations to the shining ones, salutations to the youthful ones, salutations to the seat-givers. May we, who invoke the gods, be capable; may we not exceed praise like the tree, O gods.
