त्वं राजे॑न्द्र॒ ये च॑ दे॒वा रक्षा॒ नॄन्पा॒ह्य॑सुर॒ त्वम॒स्मान् । त्वं सत्प॑तिर्म॒घवा॑ न॒स्तरु॑त्र॒स्त्वं स॒त्यो वस॑वानः सहो॒दाः
tvaṃ rājendra ye ca devā rakṣā nṝnpāhyasura tvamasmān tvaṃ satpatirmaghavā nastarutrastvaṃ satyo vasavānaḥ sahodāḥ
Thou art king Indra, thou who protectest gods and men; drive away the Asuras from us. Thou art the good lord, generous, destroyer of foes; thou art truth, the Vasus' brother.

दनो॒ विश॑ इन्द्र मृ॒ध्रवा॑चः स॒प्त यत्पुरः॒ शर्म॒ शार॑दी॒र्दर्त् । ऋ॒णोर॒पो अ॑नव॒द्यार्णा॒ यूने॑ वृ॒त्रं पु॑रु॒कुत्सा॑य रन्धीः
dano viśa indra mṛdhravācaḥ sapta yatpuraḥ śarma śāradīrdart ṛṇorapo anavadyārṇā yūne vṛtraṃ purukutsāya randhīḥ
Give wealth, O Indra; with powerful voice you threw back the sevenfold array that earlier stood in the fort. The ransom of debt the unbroken sea poured; you, slayer of Vrtra, bound the city’s bulwarks.

अजा॒ वृत॑ इन्द्र॒ शूर॑पत्नी॒र्द्यां च॒ येभिः॑ पुरुहूत नू॒नम् । रक्षो॑ अ॒ग्निम॒शुषं॒ तूर्व॑याणं सिं॒हो न दमे॒ अपां॑सि॒ वस्तोः॑
ajā vṛta indra śūrapatnīrdyāṃ ca yebhiḥ puruhūta nūnam rakṣo agnimaśuṣaṃ tūrvayāṇaṃ siṃho na dame apāṃsi vastoḥ
Indra, protector of heroes, veiled the goat, and those in heaven who ritualized properly. The rakshasa struck the dry fire quickly; like a lion he did not tame the waters of wealth.

शेष॒न्नु त इ॑न्द्र॒ सस्मि॒न्योनौ॒ प्रश॑स्तये॒ पवी॑रवस्य म॒ह्ना । सृ॒जदर्णां॒स्यव॒ यद्यु॒धा गास्तिष्ठ॒द्धरी॑ धृष॒ता मृ॑ष्ट॒ वाजा॑न्
śeṣannu ta indra sasminyonau praśastaye pavīravasya mahnā sṛjadarṇāṃsyava yadyudhā gāstiṣṭhaddharī dhṛṣatā mṛṣṭa vājān
Indra established what remained on these two sides for that praised strength of the flowing wind. He created the host of stirrings: battle-roarers stood firm, courageous, eager, all powerful.

वह॒ कुत्स॑मिन्द्र॒ यस्मि॑ञ्चा॒कन्स्यू॑म॒न्यू ऋ॒ज्रा वात॒स्याश्वा॑ । प्र सूर॑श्च॒क्रं वृ॑हताद॒भीके॒ऽभि स्पृधो॑ यासिष॒द्वज्र॑बाहुः
vaha kutsamindra yasmiñcākansyūmanyū ṛjrā vātasyāśvā pra sūraścakraṃ vṛhatādabhīke'bhi spṛdho yāsiṣadvajrabāhuḥ
Who drove the wheel's axle—O Indra—by whose might the swift horses of the wind were yoked? The mighty-souled moved forth; the arm of the bolt competed, resplendent in valour.

ज॒घ॒न्वाँ इ॑न्द्र मि॒त्रेरू॑ञ्चो॒दप्र॑वृद्धो हरिवो॒ अदा॑शून् । प्र ये पश्य॑न्नर्य॒मणं॒ सचा॒योस्त्वया॑ शू॒र्ता वह॑माना॒ अप॑त्यम्
jaghanvām̐ indra mitrerūñcodapravṛddho harivo adāśūn pra ye paśyannaryamaṇaṃ sacāyostvayā śūrtā vahamānā apatyam
Indra struck down the giant Ūrṇc and those who opposed; he placed before those who see the peoples' sight, and, having heard, he carried away the offspring, dispersing them.

रप॑त्क॒विरि॑न्द्रा॒र्कसा॑तौ॒ क्षां दा॒सायो॑प॒बर्ह॑णीं कः । कर॑त्ति॒स्रो म॒घवा॒ दानु॑चित्रा॒ नि दु॑र्यो॒णे कुय॑वाचं मृ॒धि श्रे॑त्
rapatkavirindrārkasātau kṣāṃ dāsāyopabarhaṇīṃ kaḥ karattisro maghavā dānucitrā ni duryoṇe kuyavācaṃ mṛdhi śret
The poet fell, O Rākṣa, like the sun at two horizons; who leads the spoils and pours forth the glorious gift? The threefold generosity of the strong, the famous steeds, speak with joyous praise the flourishing wealth.

सना॒ ता त॑ इन्द्र॒ नव्या॒ आगुः॒ सहो॒ नभोऽवि॑रणाय पू॒र्वीः । भि॒नत्पुरो॒ न भिदो॒ अदे॑वीर्न॒नमो॒ वध॒रदे॑वस्य पी॒योः
sanā tā ta indra navyā āguḥ saho nabho'viraṇāya pūrvīḥ bhinatpuro na bhido adevīrnanamo vadharadevasya pīyoḥ
Thus, O Indra, the new ones have come together for the wide vault of the sky's opening. The city split not; the goddess unbroken did not fall from the slayer of the divine drink.

त्वं धुनि॑रिन्द्र॒ धुनि॑मतीरृ॒णोर॒पः सी॒रा न स्रव॑न्तीः । प्र यत्स॑मु॒द्रमति॑ शूर॒ पर्षि॑ पा॒रया॑ तु॒र्वशं॒ यदुं॑ स्व॒स्ति
tvaṃ dhunirindra dhunimatīrṛṇorapaḥ sīrā na sravantīḥ pra yatsamudramati śūra parṣi pārayā turvaśaṃ yaduṃ svasti
You, Indra, are the threshing‑stone, the mighty threshing‑stone, the rain that does not flow away; you who stirred up the ocean, heroic champion, moving across the ford — may that which is auspicious be for us.

त्वम॒स्माक॑मिन्द्र वि॒श्वध॑ स्या अवृ॒कत॑मो न॒रां नृ॑पा॒ता । स नो॒ विश्वा॑सां स्पृ॒धां स॑हो॒दा वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम्
tvamasmākamindra viśvadha syā avṛkatamo narāṃ nṛpātā sa no viśvāsāṃ spṛdhāṃ sahodā vidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum
You are our Indra, the ruling lord of men, the most invincible among kings. Grant us all your favors, the sought‑after aid; we invoke this bounty, the moving herd, with life‑giving thought.
