अ॒यं जा॑यत॒ मनु॑षो॒ धरी॑मणि॒ होता॒ यजि॑ष्ठ उ॒शिजा॒मनु॑ व्र॒तम॒ग्निः स्वमनु॑ व्र॒तम् । वि॒श्वश्रु॑ष्टिः सखीय॒ते र॒यिरि॑व श्रवस्य॒ते । अद॑ब्धो॒ होता॒ नि ष॑ददि॒ळस्प॒दे परि॑वीत इ॒ळस्प॒दे
ayaṃ jāyata manuṣo dharīmaṇi hotā yajiṣṭha uśijāmanu vratamagniḥ svamanu vratam viśvaśruṣṭiḥ sakhīyate rayiriva śravasyate adabdho hotā ni ṣadadiḷaspade parivīta iḷaspade
This man is born, the sacrificer, the established one; Agni keeps his vow and the sacrifice its order. The universal ear is allied like praise; the hymn is spread. The sacrificer rises, dedicated, purified in the ritual‑seat, girded about with sacred oil.

तं य॑ज्ञ॒साध॒मपि॑ वातयामस्यृ॒तस्य॑ प॒था नम॑सा ह॒विष्म॑ता दे॒वता॑ता ह॒विष्म॑ता । स न॑ ऊ॒र्जामु॒पाभृ॑त्य॒या कृ॒पा न जू॑र्यति । यं मा॑त॒रिश्वा॒ मन॑वे परा॒वतो॑ दे॒वं भाः प॑रा॒वतः॑
taṃ yajñasādhamapi vātayāmasyṛtasya pathā namasā haviṣmatā devatātā haviṣmatā sa na ūrjāmupābhṛtyayā kṛpā na jūryati yaṃ mātariśvā manave parāvato devaṃ bhāḥ parāvataḥ
That path of rightful sacrifice we wind with homage; the deity receives the oblation. Energy does not fail the one who serves with devotion. Whom the mother‑gods and men revere as the supreme god, that god is the light on the further side.

एवे॑न स॒द्यः पर्ये॑ति॒ पार्थि॑वं मुहु॒र्गी रेतो॑ वृष॒भः कनि॑क्रद॒द्दध॒द्रेतः॒ कनि॑क्रदत् । श॒तं चक्षा॑णो अ॒क्षभि॑र्दे॒वो वने॑षु तु॒र्वणिः॑ । सदो॒ दधा॑न॒ उप॑रेषु॒ सानु॑ष्व॒ग्निः परे॑षु॒ सानु॑षु
evena sadyaḥ paryeti pārthivaṃ muhurgī reto vṛṣabhaḥ kanikradaddadhadretaḥ kanikradat śataṃ cakṣāṇo akṣabhirdevo vaneṣu turvaṇiḥ sado dadhāna upareṣu sānuṣvagniḥ pareṣu sānuṣu
Thus at once the bull, the seed, pours forth its semen with repeated drops. A hundredfold the god with many eyes moves in the woods; he set the sacrificial fires above, the joining fires among the others.

स सु॒क्रतुः॑ पु॒रोहि॑तो॒ दमे॑दमे॒ऽग्निर्य॒ज्ञस्या॑ध्व॒रस्य॑ चेतति॒ क्रत्वा॑ य॒ज्ञस्य॑ चेतति । क्रत्वा॑ वे॒धा इ॑षूय॒ते विश्वा॑ जा॒तानि॑ पस्पशे । यतो॑ घृत॒श्रीरति॑थि॒रजा॑यत॒ वह्नि॑र्वे॒धा अजा॑यत
sa sukratuḥ purohito damedame'gniryajñasyādhvarasya cetati kratvā yajñasya cetati kratvā vedhā iṣūyate viśvā jātāni paspaśe yato ghṛtaśrīratithirajāyata vahnirvedhā ajāyata
He, the glorious priest, the arranger, Agni, the path‑maker of the rite, stirs the sacrificial rite; making the offerings he watches all born things. From whom the fat of ghee pleased, thence the fires and the rituals were born.

क्रत्वा॒ यद॑स्य॒ तवि॑षीषु पृ॒ञ्चते॒ऽग्नेरवे॑ण म॒रुतां॒ न भो॒ज्ये॑षि॒राय॒ न भो॒ज्या॑ । स हि ष्मा॒ दान॒मिन्व॑ति॒ वसू॑नां च म॒ज्मना॑ । स न॑स्त्रासते दुरि॒ताद॑भि॒ह्रुतः॒ शंसा॑द॒घाद॑भि॒ह्रुतः॑
kratvā yadasya taviṣīṣu pṛñcate'gneraveṇa marutāṃ na bhojyeṣirāya na bhojyā sa hi ṣmā dānaminvati vasūnāṃ ca majmanā sa nastrāsate duritādabhihrutaḥ śaṃsādaghādabhihrutaḥ
When one offers what in the fuels brightens for Agni, thou shalt not consume the Maruts’ share; he bestows gifts on the possessors and their mass. He is not terrified by calamity, nor by reproach, nor struck down by blame.

विश्वो॒ विहा॑या अर॒तिर्वसु॑र्दधे॒ हस्ते॒ दक्षि॑णे त॒रणि॒र्न शि॑श्रथच्छ्रव॒स्यया॒ न शि॑श्रथत् । विश्व॑स्मा॒ इदि॑षुध्य॒ते दे॑व॒त्रा ह॒व्यमोहि॑षे । विश्व॑स्मा॒ इत्सु॒कृते॒ वार॑मृण्वत्य॒ग्निर्द्वारा॒ व्यृ॑ण्वति
viśvo vihāyā aratirvasurdadhe haste dakṣiṇe taraṇirna śiśrathacchravasyayā na śiśrathat viśvasmā idiṣudhyate devatrā havyamohiṣe viśvasmā itsukṛte vāramṛṇvatyagnirdvārā vyṛṇvati
The all-pervading (Vishva) cast aside distress, the Vasus set it aside; in the right hand they crossed the ford, not the noisy one. From Vishvasma this offering is poured to the gods as a sacrificial oblation. From Vishvasma, for what is well done, Agni opens the way and spreads the door.

स मानु॑षे वृ॒जने॒ शंत॑मो हि॒तो॒३॒॑ऽग्निर्य॒ज्ञेषु॒ जेन्यो॒ न वि॒श्पतिः॑ प्रि॒यो य॒ज्ञेषु॑ वि॒श्पतिः॑ । स ह॒व्या मानु॑षाणामि॒ळा कृ॒तानि॑ पत्यते । स न॑स्त्रासते॒ वरु॑णस्य धू॒र्तेर्म॒हो दे॒वस्य॑ धू॒र्तेः
sa mānuṣe vṛjane śaṃtamo hito3'gniryajñeṣu jenyo na viśpatiḥ priyo yajñeṣu viśpatiḥ sa havyā mānuṣāṇāmiḷā kṛtāni patyate sa nastrāsate varuṇasya dhūrtermaho devasya dhūrteḥ
He is the human in assemblies, peaceful and beneficent; Agni is dear in sacrifices, the lord is beloved in rites. He is the offering for men, the purifier of rites is established. He does not afflict the deceitful one of Varuna, nor the great deceitful god.

अ॒ग्निं होता॑रमीळते॒ वसु॑धितिं प्रि॒यं चेति॑ष्ठमर॒तिं न्ये॑रिरे हव्य॒वाहं॒ न्ये॑रिरे । वि॒श्वायुं॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दसं॒ होता॑रं यज॒तं क॒विम् । दे॒वासो॑ र॒ण्वमव॑से वसू॒यवो॑ गी॒र्भी र॒ण्वं व॑सू॒यवः॑
agniṃ hotāramīḷate vasudhitiṃ priyaṃ cetiṣṭhamaratiṃ nyerire havyavāhaṃ nyerire viśvāyuṃ viśvavedasaṃ hotāraṃ yajataṃ kavim devāso raṇvamavase vasūyavo gīrbhī raṇvaṃ vasūyavaḥ
They invoke Agni, the sacrificer, the dear one of earth’s wealth; the immortal he leads forth with oblation-bearing rite. He is the knower of all life, the knower of all vows, the sacrificer, the praised seer. Like gods at battle, the Vasuyava singers rouse battle, the Vasuyavas sing the battle.
