They invoke Agni, the sacrificer, the dear one of earth’s wealth; the immortal he leads forth with oblation-bearing rite. He is the knower of all life, the knower of all vows, the sacrificer, the praised seer. Like gods at battle, the Vasuyava singers rouse battle, the Vasuyavas sing the battle.

They, (the devout), praise Agni, the invoker (of the gods), the possessor of wealth, the beloved, the thoughtful; they have recourse to him as to a sovereign; they have recourse to him as the bearer of oblations; to him, who is the life (of all living beings), who knows all things, the offerer of oblations, the object of worship, the sage; the sacred (priests), desirous of affluence, murmur (his praises) to obtain his protection; desirous of affluence, they murmur (his praises) in their hymns.

Agni the Priest they supplicate to grant them wealth: him, dear, most thoughtful, have they made their messenger, him, offering-bearer have they made, Beloved of all, who knoweth all, the Priest, the Holy one, the Sage- Him, Friend, for help, the Gods when they are fain for wealth, him, Friend, with hymns, when fain for wealth.
