When one offers what in the fuels brightens for Agni, thou shalt not consume the Maruts’ share; he bestows gifts on the possessors and their mass. He is not terrified by calamity, nor by reproach, nor struck down by blame.
Inasmuch as (all men) offer in holy rite (food) for his satisfaction in the blazing (flames) of Agni, like (the grains that) are to be enjoyed by the winds, and like the viands that are to be given to him who solicits them; therefore the worshipper presents gifts to him, according to the extent of his opulence; and he preserves us, when oppressed (by sin), from wickedness; from overpowering malevolence and sin.
When through his power and in his strong prevailing flames the Maruts' gladdening boons mingle with Agni's roar, boons gladdening for the active One, Then he accelerates the gift, and by the greatness of his wealth, Shall rescue us from overwhelming misery, from curse and overwhelming woe.
