अ॒यं जा॑यत॒ मनु॑षो॒ धरी॑मणि॒ होता॒ यजि॑ष्ठ उ॒शिजा॒मनु॑ व्र॒तम॒ग्निः स्वमनु॑ व्र॒तम् । वि॒श्वश्रु॑ष्टिः सखीय॒ते र॒यिरि॑व श्रवस्य॒ते । अद॑ब्धो॒ होता॒ नि ष॑ददि॒ळस्प॒दे परि॑वीत इ॒ळस्प॒दे
ayaṃ jāyata manuṣo dharīmaṇi hotā yajiṣṭha uśijāmanu vratamagniḥ svamanu vratam viśvaśruṣṭiḥ sakhīyate rayiriva śravasyate adabdho hotā ni ṣadadiḷaspade parivīta iḷaspade
This man is born, the sacrificer, the established one; Agni keeps his vow and the sacrifice its order. The universal ear is allied like praise; the hymn is spread. The sacrificer rises, dedicated, purified in the ritual‑seat, girded about with sacred oil.
This Agni, the invoker of the gods, the assiduous offerer of sacrifices, is genitive rated of man, (for the fulfilment of the) duty of those who desire (the fruit of) pious rites as well as for (the discharge of) his own duty; he is the bestower of all blessings on him who desires his friendship, and is wealth to (such a one) seeking for food; the unobstructed offerer of oblations, he sits down, surrounded (by ministering priests), on the most sacred spot of earth upon the footmark of Iḷa.
By Manu's law was born this Agni, Priest most skilled, born for the holy work of those who yearn therefore, yea, born for his own holy work. All ear to him who seeks his love and wealth to him who strives for fame, Priest ne'er deceived, he sits in Ila's holy place, girt round in Ila's holy place.
