abhi pra vaḥ surādhasamindramarca yathā vide yo jaritṛbhyo maghavā purūvasuḥ sahasreṇeva śikṣati
Approach for our sake, like one who seeks Indra with offerings. He who brings riches from the ancient seers, Purūvas, instructs with a thousandfold teaching.

śatānīkeva pra jigāti dhṛṣṇuyā hanti vṛtrāṇi dāśuṣe gireriva pra rasā asya pinvire datrāṇi purubhojasaḥ
Like a hundred steeds he wins, with daring he slays Vṛtra's hosts. Like a mountain torrent he pours forth the streams of this mighty eater of abundant food.

ā tvā sutāsa indavo madā ya indra girvaṇaḥ āpo na vajrinnanvokyaṃ1 saraḥ pṛṇanti śūra rādhase
O you born of the sons, brilliant Indra's song—waters do not bind you like a thunderbolt; the heroes fill with flood the streams for the generous.

anehasaṃ prataraṇaṃ vivakṣaṇaṃ madhvaḥ svādiṣṭhamīṃ piba ā yathā mandasānaḥ kirāsi naḥ pra kṣudreva tmanā dhṛṣat
Drink the sweet song at the morning's rising; like one rejoicing with soft voice you make us bold in spirit though small in might.

ā naḥ stomamupa dravaddhiyāno aśvo na sotṛbhiḥ yaṃ te svadhāvansvadayanti dhenava indra kaṇveṣu rātayaḥ
Grant us your praise poured out like streams, horses not from the chariot-drivers. Those who speed along bring you near; these nights are rich with Indra among the Kanvas.

ugraṃ na vīraṃ namasopa sedima vibhūtimakṣitāvasum udrīva vajrinnavato na siñcate kṣarantīndra dhītayaḥ
Mighty, heroic, make obeisance; you have greatness and wealth. The thunderbolt is not sprinkled forth; the bold ones shatter like loosened torrents.

yaddha nūnaṃ yadvā yajñe yadvā pṛthivyāmadhi ato no yajñamāśubhirmahemata ugra ugrebhirā gahi
Whatever is indeed in the sacrifice or upon the earth—let not the unholy approach us; grasp for us the might, the terrible power from the terrible ones.

ajirāso harayo ye ta āśavo vātā iva prasakṣiṇaḥ yebhirapatyaṃ manuṣaḥ parīyase yebhirviśvaṃ svardṛśe
Bringing joy are the swift chariots, like winds that sweep clean. With them humans glorify, who wander; with them all the heavens are seen and held.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 8, Sukta 49 · Verse 8.49.9
etāvatasta īmaha indra sumnasya gomataḥ yathā prāvo maghavanmedhyātithiṃ yathā nīpātithiṃ dhane
So much even now from Indra comes of cow-prosperity: as the generous give seat to friends, so he assigns riches and guesthood, and bestows wealth.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 8, Sukta 49 · Verse 8.49.10
yathā kaṇve maghavantrasadasyavi yathā pakthe daśavraje yathā gośarye asanorṛjiśvanīndra gomaddhiraṇyavat
As Kanva poured libations like a generous lord at the session, as he went about the tenfold paths of sacrifice; as he yoked cows, like steeds the chariot-borne Indra, he led the herd as if to pasture on the mountain of dawn.
