स॒मिधा॒ग्निं दु॑वस्यत घृ॒तैर्बो॑धय॒ताति॑थिम् । आस्मि॑न्ह॒व्या जु॑होतन
samidhāgniṃ duvasyata ghṛtairbodhayatātithim āsminhavyā juhotana
Kindle the sacrificial fire with clarified butter, Agni, awaken the rite for the appointed day; I am the worshipper who offers the oblation.

agne stomaṃ juṣasva me vardhasvānena manmanā prati sūktāni harya naḥ
Grant, Agni, the hymn's satisfaction to me, prosper me with loving mind; bring back to us the sacred verses.

I set Agni as messenger forward and speak the havya-offering; may he convey the gods here to partake.

Rise, ye great ones, with the sparks of the fuel and shine; Agni rejoices, O bright one.

Bring thou near, Agni, our oblations; may they be long and may they bring delight; O Agni, pour the havyas for us.

I invoke thee, Agni, the mild priest and wondrous-shining Chitrabhānu, the bright one; I have called thee who is heard.

pratnaṃ hotāramīḍyaṃ juṣṭamagniṃ kavikratum adhvarāṇāmabhiśriyam
We strive to invoke the priestly Agni, the radiant one fitly praised, to draw near the roads of blessing.

juṣāṇo aṅgirastamemā havyānyānuṣak agne yajñaṃ naya ṛtuthā
Angiras, leader of sacrifices, called forth this oblation; O Agni, carry the rite according to its season.

He set the offerings; the bright, pure one shines here and drives away hostile gods and birth-giving foes.

विप्रं॒ होता॑रम॒द्रुहं॑ धू॒मके॑तुं वि॒भाव॑सुम् । य॒ज्ञानां॑ के॒तुमी॑महे
vipraṃ hotāramadruhaṃ dhūmaketuṃ vibhāvasum yajñānāṃ ketumīmahe
We invoke the priest who rises to the smoke-banner, the signal of sacrifices; he is the standard of our rites.

agne ni pāhi nastvaṃ prati ṣma deva rīṣataḥ bhindhi dveṣaḥ sahaskṛta
Agni, protect us; do not turn away from the godly supplicant. Break enmity that has been made.

Agni, striving with thought, you strengthened the mighty; poet among priests, you increased the assembly.

O powerful one, I invoked the highest of waters, Agni, O purifying flame, at this ritual's eastern quarter.

Be gracious to us, O Mitra and Agni; with your bright compassion, among the gods accept our praise with the sacred and the atoned.

yo agniṃ tanvo3 dame devaṃ martaḥ saparyati tasmā iddīdayadvasu
Whoever bears Agni forth, whether god or mortal, that one encircles him; therefore may the Vasus give this gift.

agnirmūrdhā divaḥ kakutpatiḥ pṛthivyā ayam apāṃ retāṃsi jinvati
Agni is the crown of the sky, the cocklord of the earth; he pierces the vital streams of the waters.

O radiant Agni, pure and bright, your splendour beams forth; may worshippers adore your light.

īśiṣe vāryasya hi dātrasyāgne svarpatiḥ stotā syāṃ tava śarmaṇi
You rule the waters' counsel and are giver of sacrifices, Agni; may singers be in your protection and favour.

Agni, wise ones praise you and stir you with their hearts; may noble songs for you increase.

adabdhasya svadhāvato dūtasya rebhataḥ sadā agneḥ sakhyaṃ vṛṇīmahe
From the unbound household's votive offerings and the envoy's course, always we choose Agni's friendship.

अ॒ग्निः शुचि॑व्रततमः॒ शुचि॒र्विप्रः॒ शुचिः॑ क॒विः । शुची॑ रोचत॒ आहु॑तः
agniḥ śucivratatamaḥ śucirvipraḥ śuciḥ kaviḥ śucī rocata āhutaḥ
Agni is pure, oath-steadfast, the pure priest, the poet; the pure one shines when invoked.

uta tvā dhītayo mama giro vardhantu viśvahā agne sakhyasya bodhi naḥ
Increase, O Agni, my thoughts and my praises that bear the world; awaken in us the comradeship of your friendship.

यद॑ग्ने॒ स्याम॒हं त्वं त्वं वा॑ घा॒ स्या अ॒हम् । स्युष्टे॑ स॒त्या इ॒हाशिषः॑
yadagne syāmahaṃ tvaṃ tvaṃ vā ghā syā aham syuṣṭe satyā ihāśiṣaḥ
Whether I am Agni, or you are me, or we be the same, may truth be established here with blessing.

Vasu-lord, Agni, whose splendour is wealth—may we be among your good-minded ones.

Agni, steadfast to thy vow, thou art ocean and river and flood; thy voice shines like the hill-stream.

yuvānaṃ viśpatiṃ kaviṃ viśvādaṃ puruvepasam agniṃ śumbhāmi manmabhiḥ
I invoke the youthful lord, the widespread sage, the all-knowing poet dwelling in the ancient town; I call Agni with my thought.

yajñānāṃ rathye vayaṃ tigmajambhāya vīḷave stomairiṣemāgnaye
In the chariot of the sacrifices we, the strong and protectors, offer the hymn for Agni with the stomas as our boundary.

अ॒यम॑ग्ने॒ त्वे अपि॑ जरि॒ता भू॑तु सन्त्य । तस्मै॑ पावक मृळय
ayamagne tve api jaritā bhūtu santya tasmai pāvaka mṛḷaya
O Agni, you have also been born from decay; be gracious to him: soothe the purifier.

The wise one does not awaken in falsehood, the poet-priest ever vigilant; O Agni, you kindle brightness in the sky.

purāgne duritebhyaḥ purā mṛdhrebhyaḥ kave pra ṇa āyurvaso tira
O ancient Agni, from the distant and from the near you moved forward; grant long life and strength to the singer.
