Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.1
dhīrā tvasya mahinā janūṃṣi vi yastastambha rodasī cidurvī pra nākamṛṣvaṃ nunude bṛhantaṃ dvitā nakṣatraṃ paprathacca bhūma
O mighty one, you stood firm in this great earth; you who restrain and make the rains—did you not set in motion twofold the stars and establish the far‑reaching earth?

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.2
uta svayā tanvā3 saṃ vade tatkadā nva1ntarvaruṇe bhuvāni kiṃ me havyamahṛṇāno juṣeta kadā mṛḷīkaṃ sumanā abhi khyam
By your own power you extended your body and spoke; when did you not enter Varuṇa among the worlds? What offering should I make, what pleasant oblation should I bring with a calm mind?

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.3
pṛcche tadeno varuṇa didṛkṣūpo emi cikituṣo vipṛccham samānaminme kavayaścidāhurayaṃ ha tubhyaṃ varuṇo hṛṇīte
I ask you, Varuṇa, this: the seeker of remedies came asking priests. Poets say one and the same thing to me — Varuṇa calls this to you.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.4
kimāga āsa varuṇa jyeṣṭhaṃ yatstotāraṃ jighāṃsasi sakhāyam pra tanme voco dūḷabha svadhāvo'va tvānenā namasā tura iyām
Why did you, Varuṇa, make the chief elder whom you desire as praise, O friend? Speak that to me: the hard‑to‑obtain libations are for you; by these salutations may they come to you.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.5
ava drugdhāni pitryā sṛjā no'va yā vayaṃ cakṛmā tanūbhiḥ ava rājanpaśutṛpaṃ na tāyuṃ sṛjā vatsaṃ na dāmno vasiṣṭham
Give us, born of the fathers, milk and strength; make us capable with bodies. Grant offspring, O king, like cattle — may they not die; grant a calf, O Vasiṣṭha, for our sustenance.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.6
na sa svo dakṣo varuṇa dhrutiḥ sā surā manyurvibhīdako acittiḥ asti jyāyānkanīyasa upāre svapnaścanedanṛtasya prayotā
Not by his own skill is Varuṇa upheld; that which the gods and many‑voiced Manayu split is inconceivable. There is a greater and younger force above, and dreams are the user's arts of falsehood.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.7
araṃ dāso na mīḷhuṣe karāṇyahaṃ devāya bhūrṇaye'nāgāḥ acetayadacito devo aryo gṛtsaṃ rāye kavitaro junāti
I am a humble servant; do not restrain me in deeds — I am born for the god, unbound. The god, unknowing of this, the noble one seizes the fat for the king; the poets chant.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 7, Sukta 86 · Verse 7.86.8
ayaṃ su tubhyaṃ varuṇa svadhāvo hṛdi stoma upaśritaścidastu śaṃ naḥ kṣeme śamu yoge no astu yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ
This libation to you, Varuṇa, be pleasing in the heart; may the hymn be heard. Be auspicious to us in safety, peace and union; protect us always with well‑being.
