ava drugdhāni pitryā sṛjā no'va yā vayaṃ cakṛmā tanūbhiḥ ava rājanpaśutṛpaṃ na tāyuṃ sṛjā vatsaṃ na dāmno vasiṣṭham
Give us, born of the fathers, milk and strength; make us capable with bodies. Grant offspring, O king, like cattle — may they not die; grant a calf, O Vasiṣṭha, for our sustenance.
Relax (the bonds) imosed by all the ill deeds of our fore-fathers, and those incurred (by the sins) whichwe have committed in our person ns; liberate, royal Varuṇa, like a calf from its tether, Vasiṣṭha like a thiefnourishing the animal (he has stolen).
Free us from sins committed by our fathers, from those wherein we have ourselves offended. O King, loose, like a thief who feeds the cattle, as from the cord a calf, set free Vasistha.
