प्र स॒म्राजे॑ बृ॒हद॑र्चा गभी॒रं ब्रह्म॑ प्रि॒यं वरु॑णाय श्रु॒ताय॑ । वि यो ज॒घान॑ शमि॒तेव॒ चर्मो॑प॒स्तिरे॑ पृथि॒वीं सूर्या॑य
pra samrāje bṛhadarcā gabhīraṃ brahma priyaṃ varuṇāya śrutāya vi yo jaghāna śamiteva carmopastire pṛthivīṃ sūryāya
Mighty ruler with great worship, deep and Brahman-like, dear to Varuṇa, O Heard One: You tore apart the garment like a skin and prostrated the earth for the Sun.

वने॑षु॒ व्य१॒॑न्तरि॑क्षं ततान॒ वाज॒मर्व॑त्सु॒ पय॑ उ॒स्रिया॑सु । हृ॒त्सु क्रतुं॒ वरु॑णो अ॒प्स्व१॒॑ग्निं दि॒वि सूर्य॑मदधा॒त्सोम॒मद्रौ॑
vaneṣu vya1ntarikṣaṃ tatāna vājamarvatsu paya usriyāsu hṛtsu kratuṃ varuṇo apsva1gniṃ divi sūryamadadhātsomamadrau
In the forests, in mid-air, the waters ran with the strength of the steeds; Varuṇa placed the sacrificial power in hearts, set fire among the waters, and gave the Sun.

नी॒चीन॑बारं॒ वरु॑णः॒ कव॑न्धं॒ प्र स॑सर्ज॒ रोद॑सी अ॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । तेन॒ विश्व॑स्य॒ भुव॑नस्य॒ राजा॒ यवं॒ न वृ॒ष्टिर्व्यु॑नत्ति॒ भूम॑
nīcīnabāraṃ varuṇaḥ kavandhaṃ pra sasarja rodasī antarikṣam tena viśvasya bhuvanasya rājā yavaṃ na vṛṣṭirvyunatti bhūma
Varuṇa fashioned the low and high realms, he spread the shining skirt of the dawn across the atmosphere. By him the king of the world, the vegetation, the rain rose upon the earth.

उ॒नत्ति॒ भूमिं॑ पृथि॒वीमु॒त द्यां य॒दा दु॒ग्धं वरु॑णो॒ वष्ट्यादित् । सम॒भ्रेण॑ वसत॒ पर्व॑तासस्तविषी॒यन्तः॑ श्रथयन्त वी॒राः
unatti bhūmiṃ pṛthivīmuta dyāṃ yadā dugdhaṃ varuṇo vaṣṭyādit samabhreṇa vasata parvatāsastaviṣīyantaḥ śrathayanta vīrāḥ
When Varuṇa nourished the earth as from milk, he raised the earth and the heaven. Mountains stood clothed in clouds; heroes upheld the paths.

इ॒मामू॒ ष्वा॑सु॒रस्य॑ श्रु॒तस्य॑ म॒हीं मा॒यां वरु॑णस्य॒ प्र वो॑चम् । माने॑नेव तस्थि॒वाँ अ॒न्तरि॑क्षे॒ वि यो म॒मे पृ॑थि॒वीं सूर्ये॑ण
imāmū ṣvāsurasya śrutasya mahīṃ māyāṃ varuṇasya pra vocam māneneva tasthivām̐ antarikṣe vi yo mame pṛthivīṃ sūryeṇa
Varuṇa spoke this speech about the heard, supreme atmosphere: 'Let not my earth be deceived; stand firm in measure within the sky—what is mine is with the Sun.'

इ॒मामू॒ नु क॒वित॑मस्य मा॒यां म॒हीं दे॒वस्य॒ नकि॒रा द॑धर्ष । एकं॒ यदु॒द्ना न पृ॒णन्त्येनी॑रासि॒ञ्चन्ती॑र॒वन॑यः समु॒द्रम्
imāmū nu kavitamasya māyāṃ mahīṃ devasya nakirā dadharṣa ekaṃ yadudnā na pṛṇantyenīrāsiñcantīravanayaḥ samudram
Place now the wondrous measure of this poem, do not let the earth of the god be violated. When one drops a single draught, waters do not fill—rivers and the ocean roar together.

अ॒र्य॒म्यं॑ वरुण मि॒त्र्यं॑ वा॒ सखा॑यं वा॒ सद॒मिद्भ्रात॑रं वा । वे॒शं वा॒ नित्यं॑ वरु॒णार॑णं वा॒ यत्सी॒माग॑श्चकृ॒मा शि॒श्रथ॒स्तत्
aryamyaṃ varuṇa mitryaṃ vā sakhāyaṃ vā sadamidbhrātaraṃ vā veśaṃ vā nityaṃ varuṇāraṇaṃ vā yatsīmāgaścakṛmā śiśrathastat
Whether noble Varuṇa or Mitra, or a friendly companion, or a true brother: whether garment or ever-constant Varuṇa’s forest—whatever border he has and whatever path he made, that is his.

कि॒त॒वासो॒ यद्रि॑रि॒पुर्न दी॒वि यद्वा॑ घा स॒त्यमु॒त यन्न वि॒द्म । सर्वा॒ ता वि ष्य॑ शिथि॒रेव॑ दे॒वाधा॑ ते स्याम वरुण प्रि॒यासः॑
kitavāso yadriripurna dīvi yadvā ghā satyamuta yanna vidma sarvā tā vi ṣya śithireva devādhā te syāma varuṇa priyāsaḥ
Whether like a wild beast the foe in the sky or a false cry or that which we know not—let all these be overturned; may we be beloved by Varuṇa, the dispenser of truth.
