कूष्ठो॑ देवावश्विना॒द्या दि॒वो म॑नावसू । तच्छ्र॑वथो वृषण्वसू॒ अत्रि॑र्वा॒मा वि॑वासति
kūṣṭho devāvaśvinādyā divo manāvasū tacchravatho vṛṣaṇvasū atrirvāmā vivāsati
Kuṣṭha, first of the Ashvins, fashioned the heavens’ clothing. Hear that Virṣaṇvasu here; Atri gladly dwells.

कुह॒ त्या कुह॒ नु श्रु॒ता दि॒वि दे॒वा नास॑त्या । कस्मि॒न्ना य॑तथो॒ जने॒ को वां॑ न॒दीनां॒ सचा॑
kuha tyā kuha nu śrutā divi devā nāsatyā kasminnā yatatho jane ko vāṃ nadīnāṃ sacā
Was it heard, or was it not—O Ashvins, the gods of heaven? In which place did this happen among men, who upheld the rivers with you?

कं या॑थः॒ कं ह॑ गच्छथः॒ कमच्छा॑ युञ्जाथे॒ रथ॑म् । कस्य॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि रण्यथो व॒यं वा॑मुश्मसी॒ष्टये॑
kaṃ yāthaḥ kaṃ ha gacchathaḥ kamacchā yuñjāthe ratham kasya brahmāṇi raṇyatho vayaṃ vāmuśmasīṣṭaye
Whither do you go, who advance? Whom do you desire to harness to the chariot? By whose sacred rites do we array ourselves in the chambers for your stay?

पौ॒रं चि॒द्ध्यु॑द॒प्रुतं॒ पौर॑ पौ॒राय॒ जिन्व॑थः । यदीं॑ गृभी॒तता॑तये सिं॒हमि॑व द्रु॒हस्प॒दे
pauraṃ ciddhyudaprutaṃ paura paurāya jinvathaḥ yadīṃ gṛbhītatātaye siṃhamiva druhaspade
Towns torn and thrown down, a city unbound—they defended cities. If I had taken that city, I would have smitten like a lion at the foe’s flank.

प्र च्यवा॑नाज्जुजु॒रुषो॑ व॒व्रिमत्कं॒ न मु॑ञ्चथः । युवा॒ यदी॑ कृ॒थः पुन॒रा काम॑मृण्वे व॒ध्वः॑
pra cyavānājjujuruṣo vavrimatkaṃ na muñcathaḥ yuvā yadī kṛthaḥ punarā kāmamṛṇve vadhvaḥ
The battle-goers, charging, did not release their grasp. If you again perform the deed, O youthful one, desire will slay the slayer.

अस्ति॒ हि वा॑मि॒ह स्तो॒ता स्मसि॑ वां सं॒दृशि॑ श्रि॒ये । नू श्रु॒तं म॒ आ ग॑त॒मवो॑भिर्वाजिनीवसू
asti hi vāmiha stotā smasi vāṃ saṃdṛśi śriye nū śrutaṃ ma ā gatamavobhirvājinīvasū
Truly here is your praise; you are like a banner to splendor. Is not what was heard come to us, O Vaṣiṇi?

को वा॑म॒द्य पु॑रू॒णामा व॑व्ने॒ मर्त्या॑नाम् । को विप्रो॑ विप्रवाहसा॒ को य॒ज्ञैर्वा॑जिनीवसू
ko vāmadya purūṇāmā vavne martyānām ko vipro vipravāhasā ko yajñairvājinīvasū
Who today fills the cities of men? Who is the priest, who the priestly road—who tends with sacrificial rites, O Vaṣiṇi?

आ वां॒ रथो॒ रथा॑नां॒ येष्ठो॑ यात्वश्विना । पु॒रू चि॑दस्म॒युस्ति॒र आ॑ङ्गू॒षो मर्त्ये॒ष्वा
ā vāṃ ratho rathānāṃ yeṣṭho yātvaśvinā purū cidasmayustira āṅgūṣo martyeṣvā
Bring here the foremost of charioteers, O Ashvins, that the man of old may be present among mortals. The finger of men is like a ring upon living ones.

शमू॒ षु वां॑ मधूयुवा॒स्माक॑मस्तु चर्कृ॒तिः । अ॒र्वा॒ची॒ना वि॑चेतसा॒ विभिः॑ श्ये॒नेव॑ दीयतम्
śamū ṣu vāṃ madhūyuvāsmākamastu carkṛtiḥ arvācīnā vicetasā vibhiḥ śyeneva dīyatam
Be gentle to us, O sweet youths; let the rude deed be set aside. With minds like plumes, disperse, as eagles, what is given.

अश्वि॑ना॒ यद्ध॒ कर्हि॑ चिच्छुश्रू॒यात॑मि॒मं हव॑म् । वस्वी॑रू॒ षु वां॒ भुजः॑ पृ॒ञ्चन्ति॒ सु वां॒ पृचः॑
aśvinā yaddha karhi cicchuśrūyātamimaṃ havam vasvīrū ṣu vāṃ bhujaḥ pṛñcanti su vāṃ pṛcaḥ
Whatever the Ashvins here wished to hear of this oblation, the strong ones, like heroes, taste with joy. They ask and eat the food; may your questions be well-answered.
