का सु॑ष्टु॒तिः शव॑सः सू॒नुमिन्द्र॑मर्वाची॒नं राध॑स॒ आ व॑वर्तत् । द॒दिर्हि वी॒रो गृ॑ण॒ते वसू॑नि॒ स गोप॑तिर्नि॒ष्षिधां॑ नो जनासः
kā suṣṭutiḥ śavasaḥ sūnumindramarvācīnaṃ rādhasa ā vavartat dadirhi vīro gṛṇate vasūni sa gopatirniṣṣidhāṃ no janāsaḥ
Which praise of the living turned the son of Indra active? Truly a hero gave strength: the lord of wealth removed restraint from our folk.

स वृ॑त्र॒हत्ये॒ हव्यः॒ स ईड्यः॒ स सुष्टु॑त॒ इन्द्रः॑ स॒त्यरा॑धाः । स याम॒न्ना म॒घवा॒ मर्त्या॑य ब्रह्मण्य॒ते सुष्व॑ये॒ वरि॑वो धात्
sa vṛtrahatye havyaḥ sa īḍyaḥ sa suṣṭuta indraḥ satyarādhāḥ sa yāmannā maghavā martyāya brahmaṇyate suṣvaye varivo dhāt
He offered sacrifice for slaying Vrtra, he was invoked, he is the well-praised Indra, worshipped by truth. He, when the chiefs fed, made the mortal rich with treasure and upheld the brave.

तमिन्नरो॒ वि ह्व॑यन्ते समी॒के रि॑रि॒क्वांस॑स्त॒न्वः॑ कृण्वत॒ त्राम् । मि॒थो यत्त्या॒गमु॒भया॑सो॒ अग्म॒न्नर॑स्तो॒कस्य॒ तन॑यस्य सा॒तौ
taminnaro vi hvayante samīke ririkvāṃsastanvaḥ kṛṇvata trām mitho yattyāgamubhayāso agmannarastokasya tanayasya sātau
Those men are praised who, near and attentive, made the paths: they fashioned the protection. Between them what was renounced in mutual striving—fire, manly food, the son's choice—these paired together.

क्र॒तू॒यन्ति॑ क्षि॒तयो॒ योग॑ उग्राशुषा॒णासो॑ मि॒थो अर्ण॑सातौ । सं यद्विशोऽव॑वृत्रन्त यु॒ध्मा आदिन्नेम॑ इन्द्रयन्ते अ॒भीके॑
kratūyanti kṣitayo yoga ugrāśuṣāṇāso mitho arṇasātau saṃ yadviśo'vavṛtranta yudhmā ādinnema indrayante abhīke
They performed rites on the plains, stirring fierce, dry-robed ones together with streams. As they unloosed all, they fought and took booty; Indra received the spoils.

आदिद्ध॒ नेम॑ इन्द्रि॒यं य॑जन्त॒ आदित्प॒क्तिः पु॑रो॒ळाशं॑ रिरिच्यात् । आदित्सोमो॒ वि प॑पृच्या॒दसु॑ष्वी॒नादिज्जु॑जोष वृष॒भं यज॑ध्यै
ādiddha nema indriyaṃ yajanta āditpaktiḥ puroḷāśaṃ riricyāt āditsomo vi papṛcyādasuṣvīnādijjujoṣa vṛṣabhaṃ yajadhyai
They set the fetters, Indra bound them; they offered the sacrificial ghee and the cooked food. Indra's Soma, pressed in the vat, was offered; they sacrificed the bull for worship.

कृ॒णोत्य॑स्मै॒ वरि॑वो॒ य इ॒त्थेन्द्रा॑य॒ सोम॑मुश॒ते सु॒नोति॑ । स॒ध्री॒चीने॑न॒ मन॒सावि॑वेन॒न्तमित्सखा॑यं कृणुते स॒मत्सु॑
kṛṇotyasmai varivo ya itthendrāya somamuśate sunoti sadhrīcīnena manasāvivenantamitsakhāyaṃ kṛṇute samatsu
He makes abundant rain for him; when Indra drinks the Soma he grows young. With united mind he makes friendship amity among equals.

य इन्द्रा॑य सु॒नव॒त्सोम॑म॒द्य पचा॑त्प॒क्तीरु॒त भृ॒ज्जाति॑ धा॒नाः । प्रति॑ मना॒योरु॒चथा॑नि॒ हर्य॒न्तस्मि॑न्दध॒द्वृष॑णं॒ शुष्म॒मिन्द्रः॑
ya indrāya sunavatsomamadya pacātpaktīruta bhṛjjāti dhānāḥ prati manāyorucathāni haryantasmindadhadvṛṣaṇaṃ śuṣmamindraḥ
He who for Indra cooked the Soma today, the cooked food, the ritual meal, the grains are offered. By the mind’s counter-light they set the bull before Indra; the subtle Indra received the prize.

य॒दा स॑म॒र्यं व्यचे॒दृघा॑वा दी॒र्घं यदा॒जिम॒भ्यख्य॑द॒र्यः । अचि॑क्रद॒द्वृष॑णं॒ पत्न्यच्छा॑ दुरो॒ण आ निशि॑तं सोम॒सुद्भिः॑
yadā samaryaṃ vyacedṛghāvā dīrghaṃ yadājimabhyakhyadaryaḥ acikradadvṛṣaṇaṃ patnyacchā duroṇa ā niśitaṃ somasudbhiḥ
When he slew the warrior, when he greatly renown'd the slayer, he destroyed the bull of the rival; the wife’s protection was cast off—Soma rose with them at night.

भूय॑सा व॒स्नम॑चर॒त्कनी॒योऽवि॑क्रीतो अकानिषं॒ पुन॒र्यन् । स भूय॑सा॒ कनी॑यो॒ नारि॑रेचीद्दी॒ना दक्षा॒ वि दु॑हन्ति॒ प्र वा॒णम्
bhūyasā vasnamacaratkanīyo'vikrīto akāniṣaṃ punaryan sa bhūyasā kanīyo nārirecīddīnā dakṣā vi duhanti pra vāṇam
They again increased the wealth, the youthful offspring not withheld, making fertile the women; dexterous they milked, pressing forth the voice.

क इ॒मं द॒शभि॒र्ममेन्द्रं॑ क्रीणाति धे॒नुभिः॑ । य॒दा वृ॒त्राणि॒ जङ्घ॑न॒दथै॑नं मे॒ पुन॑र्ददत्
ka imaṃ daśabhirmamendraṃ krīṇāti dhenubhiḥ yadā vṛtrāṇi jaṅghanadathainaṃ me punardadat
Who now of these ten buys this Indra with cows? When the Vṛtras trampled, he gave me back again.

नू ष्टु॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ नू गृ॑णा॒न इषं॑ जरि॒त्रे न॒द्यो॒३॒॑ न पी॑पेः । अका॑रि ते हरिवो॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्यं॑ धि॒या स्या॑म र॒थ्यः॑ सदा॒साः
nū ṣṭuta indra nū gṛṇāna iṣaṃ jaritre nadyo3 na pīpeḥ akāri te harivo brahma navyaṃ dhiyā syāma rathyaḥ sadāsāḥ
Not praising Indra, not hating men—this is the purifier in the oblation, not of song nor of drink. The Hari-born made for you new thought; may the chariots be always present.
