दे॒वानां॒ नु व॒यं जाना॒ प्र वो॑चाम विप॒न्यया॑ । उ॒क्थेषु॑ श॒स्यमा॑नेषु॒ यः पश्या॒दुत्त॑रे यु॒गे
devānāṃ nu vayaṃ jānā pra vocāma vipanyayā uktheṣu śasyamāneṣu yaḥ paśyāduttare yuge
Shall we declare the gods as known by us, by gathered offerings? He who sees in the later age through invoked hymns when the crops are established.

ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पति॑रे॒ता सं क॒र्मार॑ इवाधमत् । दे॒वानां॑ पू॒र्व्ये यु॒गेऽस॑तः॒ सद॑जायत
brahmaṇaspatiretā saṃ karmāra ivādhamat devānāṃ pūrvye yuge'sataḥ sadajāyata
Lord of Brahman, like one of old he undertook righteous action. In the gods’ former age a being without place was born.

दे॒वानां॑ यु॒गे प्र॑थ॒मेऽस॑तः॒ सद॑जायत । तदाशा॒ अन्व॑जायन्त॒ तदु॑त्ता॒नप॑द॒स्परि॑
devānāṃ yuge prathame'sataḥ sadajāyata tadāśā anvajāyanta taduttānapadaspari
In the gods’ first age a place‑less being was born. From that arose progeny; those high and low sprang forth alternately.

भूर्ज॑ज्ञ उत्ता॒नप॑दो भु॒व आशा॑ अजायन्त । अदि॑ते॒र्दक्षो॑ अजायत॒ दक्षा॒द्वदि॑तिः॒ परि॑
bhūrjajña uttānapado bhuva āśā ajāyanta aditerdakṣo ajāyata dakṣādvaditiḥ pari
The sacrificial stake, place of the high, the world’s life were born. From Aditya Daksha was born; from Daksha sprang wise speech around.

अदि॑ति॒र्ह्यज॑निष्ट॒ दक्ष॒ या दु॑हि॒ता तव॑ । तां दे॒वा अन्व॑जायन्त भ॒द्रा अ॒मृत॑बन्धवः
aditirhyajaniṣṭa dakṣa yā duhitā tava tāṃ devā anvajāyanta bhadrā amṛtabandhavaḥ
Aditi bore offspring, indeed Daksha who churns your milk. The gods, following her, produced auspicious immortal kin.

यद्दे॑वा अ॒दः स॑लि॒ले सुसं॑रब्धा॒ अति॑ष्ठत । अत्रा॑ वो॒ नृत्य॑तामिव ती॒व्रो रे॒णुरपा॑यत
yaddevā adaḥ salile susaṃrabdhā atiṣṭhata atrā vo nṛtyatāmiva tīvro reṇurapāyata
When the gods stood below in deep water, well arranged, the swift dust urged them on like dancers; there the ocean overwhelmed the sun like a beast chewing.

यद्दे॑वा॒ यत॑यो यथा॒ भुव॑ना॒न्यपि॑न्वत । अत्रा॑ समु॒द्र आ गू॒ळ्हमा सूर्य॑मजभर्तन
yaddevā yatayo yathā bhuvanānyapinvata atrā samudra ā gūḷhamā sūryamajabhartana
As the gods moved, as their efforts shaped the worlds, there the sea gathered and engulfed the sun, O Bull‑bearer (Indra) who bears away the sky.

अ॒ष्टौ पु॒त्रासो॒ अदि॑ते॒र्ये जा॒तास्त॒न्व१॒॑स्परि॑ । दे॒वाँ उप॒ प्रैत्स॒प्तभिः॒ परा॑ मार्ता॒ण्डमा॑स्यत्
aṣṭau putrāso aditerye jātāstanva1spari devām̐ upa praitsaptabhiḥ parā mārtāṇḍamāsyat
Eight sons of Aditya were born, their bodies spread. The gods were set forth by the seven; Marutand (the Sun) came forth in the morning.

स॒प्तभिः॑ पु॒त्रैरदि॑ति॒रुप॒ प्रैत्पू॒र्व्यं यु॒गम् । प्र॒जायै॑ मृ॒त्यवे॑ त्व॒त्पुन॑र्मार्ता॒ण्डमाभ॑रत्
saptabhiḥ putrairaditirupa praitpūrvyaṃ yugam prajāyai mṛtyave tvatpunarmārtāṇḍamābharat
With seven sons Aditi brought forth the former age. For progeny and for death you again bore Martand.
