दे॒वान्हु॑वे बृ॒हच्छ्र॑वसः स्व॒स्तये॑ ज्योति॒ष्कृतो॑ अध्व॒रस्य॒ प्रचे॑तसः । ये वा॑वृ॒धुः प्र॑त॒रं वि॒श्ववे॑दस॒ इन्द्र॑ज्येष्ठासो अ॒मृता॑ ऋता॒वृधः॑
devānhuve bṛhacchravasaḥ svastaye jyotiṣkṛto adhvarasya pracetasaḥ ye vāvṛdhuḥ prataraṃ viśvavedasa indrajyeṣṭhāso amṛtā ṛtāvṛdhaḥ
I invoked the gods, O mighty-hearing, for welfare; the eye of light fashioned the roadway of thought. They who grew early, the omniscient, foremost Indra-born, immortals, increase ṛta.

इन्द्र॑प्रसूता॒ वरु॑णप्रशिष्टा॒ ये सूर्य॑स्य॒ ज्योति॑षो भा॒गमा॑न॒शुः । म॒रुद्ग॑णे वृ॒जने॒ मन्म॑ धीमहि॒ माघो॑ने य॒ज्ञं ज॑नयन्त सू॒रयः॑
indraprasūtā varuṇapraśiṣṭā ye sūryasya jyotiṣo bhāgamānaśuḥ marudgaṇe vṛjane manma dhīmahi māghone yajñaṃ janayanta sūrayaḥ
Born of Indra, favored by Varuṇa, those whose portion is the sun’s light—O Maruts, assembled in the herd, we contemplate mind; the radiant ones generate the sacrifice in the month of Magha.

इन्द्रो॒ वसु॑भिः॒ परि॑ पातु नो॒ गय॑मादि॒त्यैर्नो॒ अदि॑तिः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छतु । रु॒द्रो रु॒द्रेभि॑र्दे॒वो मृ॑ळयाति न॒स्त्वष्टा॑ नो॒ ग्नाभिः॑ सुवि॒ताय॑ जिन्वतु
indro vasubhiḥ pari pātu no gayamādityairno aditiḥ śarma yacchatu rudro rudrebhirdevo mṛḷayāti nastvaṣṭā no gnābhiḥ suvitāya jinvatu
May Indra with the Vasus protect our cattle; may Aditi not disgrace us for the sun’s rise. Rudra, may the gods with Rudra soothe us; may Tvaṣṭṛ make us strong with fires for welfare.

अदि॑ति॒र्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ऋ॒तं म॒हदिन्द्रा॒विष्णू॑ म॒रुतः॒ स्व॑र्बृ॒हत् । दे॒वाँ आ॑दि॒त्याँ अव॑से हवामहे॒ वसू॑न्रु॒द्रान्स॑वि॒तारं॑ सु॒दंस॑सम्
aditirdyāvāpṛthivī ṛtaṃ mahadindrāviṣṇū marutaḥ svarbṛhat devām̐ ādityām̐ avase havāmahe vasūnrudrānsavitāraṃ sudaṃsasam
Aditi established heaven and earth, the great law; Indra, Vishṇu, the Maruts, broad in power. We invoke the gods, the Adityas, we offer in praise Vasus, Rudras, Savitar, and beautiful rewards.

सर॑स्वान्धी॒भिर्वरु॑णो धृ॒तव्र॑तः पू॒षा विष्णु॑र्महि॒मा वा॒युर॒श्विना॑ । ब्र॒ह्म॒कृतो॑ अ॒मृता॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दसः॒ शर्म॑ नो यंसन्त्रि॒वरू॑थ॒मंह॑सः
sarasvāndhībhirvaruṇo dhṛtavrataḥ pūṣā viṣṇurmahimā vāyuraśvinā brahmakṛto amṛtā viśvavedasaḥ śarma no yaṃsantrivarūthamaṃhasaḥ
Varuṇa bears the vows with blindfolded waters; Pūṣā and Vishṇu, majestic Vāyu and the divine Ashvins. Brahman made immortal, omniscient ones, may they be our shelter, O mighty-hearing.

वृषा॑ य॒ज्ञो वृष॑णः सन्तु य॒ज्ञिया॒ वृष॑णो दे॒वा वृष॑णो हवि॒ष्कृतः॑ । वृष॑णा॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ऋ॒ताव॑री॒ वृषा॑ प॒र्जन्यो॒ वृष॑णो वृष॒स्तुभः॑
vṛṣā yajño vṛṣaṇaḥ santu yajñiyā vṛṣaṇo devā vṛṣaṇo haviṣkṛtaḥ vṛṣaṇā dyāvāpṛthivī ṛtāvarī vṛṣā parjanyo vṛṣaṇo vṛṣastubhaḥ
Let the kine be cows of sacrifice, let sacrificial men be bulls; let the gods be bulls; let the oblations be made. Cows of heaven and earth, sources of ṛta, the wealth of progeny — let the bulls be prosperous and bountiful.

अ॒ग्नीषोमा॒ वृष॑णा॒ वाज॑सातये पुरुप्रश॒स्ता वृष॑णा॒ उप॑ ब्रुवे । यावी॑जि॒रे वृष॑णो देवय॒ज्यया॒ ता नः॒ शर्म॑ त्रि॒वरू॑थं॒ वि यं॑सतः
agnīṣomā vṛṣaṇā vājasātaye purupraśastā vṛṣaṇā upa bruve yāvījire vṛṣaṇo devayajyayā tā naḥ śarma trivarūthaṃ vi yaṃsataḥ
Agni and Soma, bulls of strength, for wealth and praise, the renowned among men — I speak of bulls. May the bull-generating rites, by the gods’ worship, grant us glory and the threefold protection.

dhṛtavratāḥ kṣatriyā yajñaniṣkṛto bṛhaddivā adhvarāṇāmabhiśriyaḥ agnihotāra ṛtasāpo adruho'po asṛjannanu vṛtratūrye
Firm of vow, O Kṣatriya, established in sacrifice, great through the day, the revered of the roadside. The fire-priest with laws and libations, the ascending waters created from the foe’s overcoming.

द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ज॑नयन्न॒भि व्र॒ताप॒ ओष॑धीर्व॒निना॑नि य॒ज्ञिया॑ । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षं॒ स्व१॒॑रा प॑प्रुरू॒तये॒ वशं॑ दे॒वास॑स्त॒न्वी॒३॒॑ नि मा॑मृजुः
dyāvāpṛthivī janayannabhi vratāpa oṣadhīrvanināni yajñiyā antarikṣaṃ sva1rā paprurūtaye vaśaṃ devāsastanvī3 ni māmṛjuḥ
Heaven and earth engendered the waters, laws, herbs, and forests, the rites of the sacrificer. They spread the midspace, the swift airs for the gods’ control; may they not confound me.

ध॒र्तारो॑ दि॒व ऋ॒भवः॑ सु॒हस्ता॑ वातापर्ज॒न्या म॑हि॒षस्य॑ तन्य॒तोः । आप॒ ओष॑धीः॒ प्र ति॑रन्तु नो॒ गिरो॒ भगो॑ रा॒तिर्वा॒जिनो॑ यन्तु मे॒ हव॑म्
dhartāro diva ṛbhavaḥ suhastā vātāparjanyā mahiṣasya tanyatoḥ āpa oṣadhīḥ pra tirantu no giro bhago rātirvājino yantu me havam
May Dhṛtarashtra, Div, the three-pronged ones, Suhastā, the wind-born and mighty sons of buffalo, and the herdsmen protect us. May herbs and speech, gods and radiant singers, and the strong bring blessings to our sacrifice.

samudraḥ sindhū rajo antarikṣamaja ekapāttanayitnurarṇavaḥ ahirbudhnyaḥ śaṛṇavadvacāṃsi me viśve devāsa uta sūrayo mama
The ocean, the rivers, the sky, single-streamed waves and the roaring seascape—hear, O Ahirs, my voice: all the gods and the suns are for me.

स्याम॑ वो॒ मन॑वो दे॒ववी॑तये॒ प्राञ्चं॑ नो य॒ज्ञं प्र ण॑यत साधु॒या । आदि॑त्या॒ रुद्रा॒ वस॑वः॒ सुदा॑नव इ॒मा ब्रह्म॑ श॒स्यमा॑नानि जिन्वत
syāma vo manavo devavītaye prāñcaṃ no yajñaṃ pra ṇayata sādhuyā ādityā rudrā vasavaḥ sudānava imā brahma śasyamānāni jinvata
May our minds be for the gods’ protection; may they offer the eastern sacrifice rightly. Adityas, Rudras, Vasus, Sudānava—these who cherish the sacred crops have thriven.

दैव्या॒ होता॑रा प्रथ॒मा पु॒रोहि॑त ऋ॒तस्य॒ पन्था॒मन्वे॑मि साधु॒या । क्षेत्र॑स्य॒ पतिं॒ प्रति॑वेशमीमहे॒ विश्वा॑न्दे॒वाँ अ॒मृता॒ँ अप्र॑युच्छतः
daivyā hotārā prathamā purohita ṛtasya panthāmanvemi sādhuyā kṣetrasya patiṃ prativeśamīmahe viśvāndevām̐ amṛtām̐ aprayucchataḥ
Divine priesthood, foremost officiant, I follow the path of ṛta with devotion. We approach the lord of the field; the gods have not withheld the immortal offerings.

वसि॑ष्ठासः पितृ॒वद्वाच॑मक्रत दे॒वाँ ईळा॑ना ऋषि॒वत्स्व॒स्तये॑ । प्री॒ता इ॑व ज्ञा॒तयः॒ काम॒मेत्या॒स्मे दे॑वा॒सोऽव॑ धूनुता॒ वसु॑
vasiṣṭhāsaḥ pitṛvadvācamakrata devām̐ īḷānā ṛṣivatsvastaye prītā iva jñātayaḥ kāmametyāsme devāso'va dhūnutā vasu
Vasiṣṭhas spoke like fathers; with priestly chant and awakened sages they blessed welfare. As loved ones rejoiced, the known desires of the gods took up abode among the Vasus.

दे॒वान्वसि॑ष्ठो अ॒मृता॑न्ववन्दे॒ ये विश्वा॒ भुव॑ना॒भि प्र॑त॒स्थुः । ते नो॑ रासन्तामुरुगा॒यम॒द्य यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः
devānvasiṣṭho amṛtānvavande ye viśvā bhuvanābhi pratasthuḥ te no rāsantāmurugāyamadya yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ
I praise the Vasus who honored the immortals—the ones who established all the worlds. May they grant us strength and ever keep us safe with blessings.
