tvāmiddhi sahasasputra martya upabrūte dhane hite suvīryaṃ maruta ā svaśvyaṃ dadhīta yo va ācake
The thousand‑sons addressed you: spoke of the mortal’s good—may the Marut give mighty strength and place his own chariot to him whom he has hailed.

praitu brahmaṇaspatiḥ pra devyetu sūnṛtā acchā vīraṃ naryaṃ paṅktirādhasaṃ devā yajñaṃ nayantu naḥ
May Brahmanaspati come, may the godlike ones come with many‑voiced songs; may the gods, invoking the heroic man, bring our sacrificial rite to order.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 40 · Verse 1.40.4
yo vāghate dadāti sūnaraṃ vasu sa dhatte akṣiti śravaḥ tasmā iḷāṃ suvīrāmā yajāmahe supratūrtimanehasam
He who speaks gives, the generous one bestows; riches and fame are placed. Therefore we invoke these mighty ones and perform the sacrifice with fitting praise for abundant prosperity.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 40 · Verse 1.40.5
pra nūnaṃ brahmaṇaspatirmantraṃ vadatyukthyam yasminnindro varuṇo mitro aryamā devā okāṃsi cakrire
Brahmanaspati indeed utters the articulate mantra in which Indra, Varuna, Mitra, Aryaman and the gods set the oblations in motion.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 40 · Verse 1.40.6
tamidvocemā vidatheṣu śambhuvaṃ mantraṃ devā anehasam imāṃ ca vācaṃ pratiharyathā naro viśvedvāmā vo aśnavat
Thus they spoke these rites, the gods proclaimed the potent mantra; seize up this speech so that man, partaking, may be fed by all.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 40 · Verse 1.40.7
ko devayantamaśnavajjanaṃ ko vṛktabarhiṣam prapra dāśvānpastyābhirasthitāntarvāvatkṣayaṃ dadhe
Who attends the gods with worship, who utters the hymn with sacred prayer? He offers the beasts and stands with the oblations; thus he averts destruction.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 40 · Verse 1.40.8
upa kṣatraṃ pṛñcīta hanti rājabhirbhaye citsukṣitiṃ dadhe nāsya vartā na tarutā mahādhane nārbhe asti vajriṇaḥ
He clears the dominion, slays foes, kings shelter in fear; he sets secure boundaries. There is no youth in great wealth—no lack for the strong‑armed.
