यं त्राय॑ध्व इ॒दमि॑दं॒ देवा॑सो॒ यं च॒ नय॑थ । तस्मा॑ अग्ने॒ वरु॑ण॒ मित्रार्य॑म॒न्मरु॑तः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छत
yaṃ trāyadhva idamidaṃ devāso yaṃ ca nayatha tasmā agne varuṇa mitrāryamanmarutaḥ śarma yacchata
May he who guards this house of the gods and who leads it protect us. Therefore Agni, Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, Marut—grant us shelter and glory.

यु॒ष्माकं॑ देवा॒ अव॒साह॑नि प्रि॒य ई॑जा॒नस्त॑रति॒ द्विषः॑ । प्र स क्षयं॑ तिरते॒ वि म॒हीरिषो॒ यो वो॒ वरा॑य॒ दाश॑ति
yuṣmākaṃ devā avasāhani priya ījānastarati dviṣaḥ pra sa kṣayaṃ tirate vi mahīriṣo yo vo varāya dāśati
Your gods do not abandon you; the beloved one delights and the hostile one departs. May he remove the ruin; the thoughtful leader who grants you strength provides wealth.

न॒हि व॑श्चर॒मं च॒न वसि॑ष्ठः परि॒मंस॑ते । अ॒स्माक॑म॒द्य म॑रुतः सु॒ते सचा॒ विश्वे॑ पिबत का॒मिनः॑
nahi vaścaramaṃ cana vasiṣṭhaḥ parimaṃsate asmākamadya marutaḥ sute sacā viśve pibata kāminaḥ
Not at all does Vasiṣṭha completely bind us; today the Marut’s sons, with companions, drink all-round, desirous of power.

न॒हि व॑ ऊ॒तिः पृत॑नासु॒ मर्ध॑ति॒ यस्मा॒ अरा॑ध्वं नरः । अ॒भि व॒ आव॑र्त्सुम॒तिर्नवी॑यसी॒ तूयं॑ यात पिपीषवः
nahi va ūtiḥ pṛtanāsu mardhati yasmā arādhvaṃ naraḥ abhi va āvartsumatirnavīyasī tūyaṃ yāta pipīṣavaḥ
No proclamation among men crushes the singer whom we have honored. Do not return to us with new hostility; you who thirst, go and drink.

ओ षु घृ॑ष्विराधसो या॒तनान्धां॑सि पी॒तये॑ । इ॒मा वो॑ ह॒व्या म॑रुतो र॒रे हि कं॒ मो ष्व१॒॑न्यत्र॑ गन्तन
o ṣu ghṛṣvirādhaso yātanāndhāṃsi pītaye imā vo havyā maruto rare hi kaṃ mo ṣva1nyatra gantana
O purifier, for the sake of the one afflicted by guilt, you bring offerings for drinking. These are your oblations, O Maruts; why should another come elsewhere?

आ च॑ नो ब॒र्हिः सद॑तावि॒ता च॑ नः स्पा॒र्हाणि॒ दात॑वे॒ वसु॑ । अस्रे॑धन्तो मरुतः सो॒म्ये मधौ॒ स्वाहे॒ह मा॑दयाध्वै
ā ca no barhiḥ sadatāvitā ca naḥ spārhāṇi dātave vasu asredhanto marutaḥ somye madhau svāheha mādayādhvai
Bring us the abundant barley and the sacred offerings, O Vasus, the gifts to be given. Maruts, pouring Soma like honey, accept our oblation and make us vigorous.

स॒स्वश्चि॒द्धि त॒न्व१॒ः॑ शुम्भ॑माना॒ आ हं॒सासो॒ नील॑पृष्ठा अपप्तन् । विश्वं॒ शर्धो॑ अ॒भितो॑ मा॒ नि षे॑द॒ नरो॒ न र॒ण्वाः सव॑ने॒ मद॑न्तः
sasvaściddhi tanva1ḥ śumbhamānā ā haṃsāso nīlapṛṣṭhā apaptan viśvaṃ śardho abhito mā ni ṣeda naro na raṇvāḥ savane madantaḥ
They, made strong in their bodies, like Shumbha mounting, appeared with blue backs. All around they pressed; men did not restrain themselves in battle, intoxicated with might.

यो नो॑ मरुतो अ॒भि दु॑र्हृणा॒युस्ति॒रश्चि॒त्तानि॑ वसवो॒ जिघां॑सति । द्रु॒हः पाशा॒न्प्रति॒ स मु॑चीष्ट॒ तपि॑ष्ठेन॒ हन्म॑ना हन्तना॒ तम्
yo no maruto abhi durhṛṇāyustiraścittāni vasavo jighāṃsati druhaḥ pāśānprati sa mucīṣṭa tapiṣṭhena hanmanā hantanā tam
Whoever among you Maruts hates the injurer and desires the overthrow of treacherous minds — loosen the bonds of malice, release him by fierce intent, strike down the slayer.

सांत॑पना इ॒दं ह॒विर्मरु॑त॒स्तज्जु॑जुष्टन । यु॒ष्माको॒ती रि॑शादसः
sāṃtapanā idaṃ havirmarutastajjujuṣṭana yuṣmākotī riśādasaḥ
This oblation is a cooling balm, Maruts; it has been prepared. For your remedy are the abundant rishis.

गृह॑मेधास॒ आ ग॑त॒ मरु॑तो॒ माप॑ भूतन । यु॒ष्माको॒ती सु॑दानवः
gṛhamedhāsa ā gata maruto māpa bhūtana yuṣmākotī sudānavaḥ
The Marut has come to household gifts; do not measure them wrongly. For you are abundant, bestowers of wealth.

iheha vaḥ svatavasaḥ kavayaḥ sūryatvacaḥ yajñaṃ maruta ā vṛṇe
Here are your own hymns, singers, poets clothed like the sun. I invoke the Marut for the sacrifice.

त्र्य॑म्बकं यजामहे सु॒गन्धिं॑ पुष्टि॒वर्ध॑नम् । उ॒र्वा॒रु॒कमि॑व॒ बन्ध॑नान्मृ॒त्योर्मु॑क्षीय॒ मामृता॑त्
tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam urvārukamiva bandhanānmṛtyormukṣīya māmṛtāt
We worship the three‑eyed One, fragrant, nurturing and strengthening. Like the ripening vine from bondage release us from death—grant us immortality.
