अग्ने॒ स क्षे॑षदृत॒पा ऋ॑ते॒जा उ॒रु ज्योति॑र्नशते देव॒युष्टे॑ । यं त्वं मि॒त्रेण॒ वरु॑णः स॒जोषा॒ देव॒ पासि॒ त्यज॑सा॒ मर्त॒मंहः॑
agne sa kṣeṣadṛtapā ṛtejā uru jyotirnaśate devayuṣṭe yaṃ tvaṃ mitreṇa varuṇaḥ sajoṣā deva pāsi tyajasā martamaṃhaḥ
Agni, you of consuming flame, you who shine with broad light in the ritual time—what you, Mitra and Varuna, have bound in fellowship, O god, cast away the mortal's sloth.

ई॒जे य॒ज्ञेभिः॑ शश॒मे शमी॑भिरृ॒धद्वा॑राया॒ग्नये॑ ददाश । ए॒वा च॒न तं य॒शसा॒मजु॑ष्टि॒र्नांहो॒ मर्तं॑ नशते॒ न प्रदृ॑प्तिः
īje yajñebhiḥ śaśame śamībhirṛdhadvārāyāgnaye dadāśa evā cana taṃ yaśasāmajuṣṭirnāṃho martaṃ naśate na pradṛptiḥ
They were supported by sacrifices, adorned with auspicious tamarisks, the doors set for the fire were given. Thus was he strengthened by fame; the mortal does not perish, nor is there blazing doom.

सूरो॒ न यस्य॑ दृश॒तिर॑रे॒पा भी॒मा यदेति॑ शुच॒तस्त॒ आ धीः । हेष॑स्वतः शु॒रुधो॒ नायम॒क्तोः कुत्रा॑ चिद्र॒ण्वो व॑स॒तिर्व॑ने॒जाः
sūro na yasya dṛśatirarepā bhīmā yadeti śucatasta ā dhīḥ heṣasvataḥ śurudho nāyamaktoḥ kutrā cidraṇvo vasatirvanejāḥ
The hero whose vision is not dim is formidable; purity is his thought. From him the brave ones do not turn away; where does the warrior dwell but in the forest of heroes?

ति॒ग्मं चि॒देम॒ महि॒ वर्पो॑ अस्य॒ भस॒दश्वो॒ न य॑मसा॒न आ॒सा । वि॒जेह॑मानः पर॒शुर्न जि॒ह्वां द्र॒विर्न द्रा॑वयति॒ दारु॒ धक्ष॑त्
tigmaṃ cidema mahi varpo asya bhasadaśvo na yamasāna āsā vijehamānaḥ paraśurna jihvāṃ dravirna drāvayati dāru dhakṣat
We pierce the firm, fierce stallion of this place; the horse of the battle was not fashioned in wrath. The smitten one does not lick the tongue; wood does not melt into fluid.

स इदस्ते॑व॒ प्रति॑ धादसि॒ष्यञ्छिशी॑त॒ तेजोऽय॑सो॒ न धारा॑म् । चि॒त्रध्र॑जतिरर॒तिर्यो अ॒क्तोर्वेर्न द्रु॒षद्वा॑ रघु॒पत्म॑जंहाः
sa idasteva prati dhādasiṣyañchiśīta tejo'yaso na dhārām citradhrajatiraratiryo aktorverna druṣadvā raghupatmajaṃhāḥ
Thus he supports you with his fierce power; the cooling, metal-bright vigour is not a stream. The adorned, variegated banner of the rest who were not cut down did not fall; O scion of the Raghu line, they slew not.

स ईं॑ रे॒भो न प्रति॑ वस्त उ॒स्राः शो॒चिषा॑ रारपीति मि॒त्रम॑हाः । नक्तं॒ य ई॑मरु॒षो यो दिवा॒ नॄनम॑र्त्यो अरु॒षो यो दिवा॒ नॄन्
sa īṃ rebho na prati vasta usrāḥ śociṣā rārapīti mitramahāḥ naktaṃ ya īmaruṣo yo divā nṝnamartyo aruṣo yo divā nṝn
He does not oppose the surge of tears; the streams of sorrow are poured forth. Great Mitra does not lament; by night he does not rage, by day he does not afflict men.

दि॒वो न यस्य॑ विध॒तो नवी॑नो॒द्वृषा॑ रु॒क्ष ओष॑धीषु नूनोत् । घृणा॒ न यो ध्रज॑सा॒ पत्म॑ना॒ यन्ना रोद॑सी॒ वसु॑ना॒ दं सु॒पत्नी॑
divo na yasya vidhato navīnodvṛṣā rukṣa oṣadhīṣu nūnot ghṛṇā na yo dhrajasā patmanā yannā rodasī vasunā daṃ supatnī
The law of heaven has its order; herbs do not wither by chance. No one with mighty bearing is offensive; he who does not weep is endowed with wealth and a good consort.

धायो॑भिर्वा॒ यो युज्ये॑भिर॒र्कैर्वि॒द्युन्न द॑विद्यो॒त्स्वेभिः॒ शुष्मैः॑ । शर्धो॑ वा॒ यो म॒रुतां॑ त॒तक्ष॑ ऋ॒भुर्न त्वे॒षो र॑भसा॒नो अ॑द्यौत्
dhāyobhirvā yo yujyebhirarkairvidyunna davidyotsvebhiḥ śuṣmaiḥ śardho vā yo marutāṃ tatakṣa ṛbhurna tveṣo rabhasāno adyaut
By swift chariots or by the rays of the sun the lightnings are yoked. Or by the Maruts is the glory harnessed, mighty artisans; these forces shone forth today with splendour.
