स इदस्ते॑व॒ प्रति॑ धादसि॒ष्यञ्छिशी॑त॒ तेजोऽय॑सो॒ न धारा॑म् । चि॒त्रध्र॑जतिरर॒तिर्यो अ॒क्तोर्वेर्न द्रु॒षद्वा॑ रघु॒पत्म॑जंहाः
sa idasteva prati dhādasiṣyañchiśīta tejo'yaso na dhārām citradhrajatiraratiryo aktorverna druṣadvā raghupatmajaṃhāḥ
Thus he supports you with his fierce power; the cooling, metal-bright vigour is not a stream. The adorned, variegated banner of the rest who were not cut down did not fall; O scion of the Raghu line, they slew not.
He casts (afar his flames) as an archer (his arrows), and sharpens when about to dart his radiance, as (a warrior whets) the edge of his metal (weapons), he who, variously moving, passes through the night, like the light-falling foot of a bird perched upon a tree.
Archer-like, fain toshoot, he sets his arrow, and whets his splendour like the edge of iron: The messenger of night with brilliant pathway, like a tree-roosting bird of rapid pinion.
