अ॒ग्निं स्तोमे॑न बोधय समिधा॒नो अम॑र्त्यम् । ह॒व्या दे॒वेषु॑ नो दधत्
agniṃ stomena bodhaya samidhāno amartyam havyā deveṣu no dadhat
Invoke Agni with hymn and make known the offering of fuel; the oblation places the gods among the meats.

तम॑ध्व॒रेष्वी॑ळते दे॒वं मर्ता॒ अम॑र्त्यम् । यजि॑ष्ठं॒ मानु॑षे॒ जने॑
tamadhvareṣvīḷate devaṃ martā amartyam yajiṣṭhaṃ mānuṣe jane
On that path the mortal approaches the god with fuel, the immortal; the sacrificer of men seeks the most honored.

तं हि शश्व॑न्त॒ ईळ॑ते स्रु॒चा दे॒वं घृ॑त॒श्चुता॑ । अ॒ग्निं ह॒व्याय॒ वोळ्ह॑वे
taṃ hi śaśvanta īḷate srucā devaṃ ghṛtaścutā agniṃ havyāya voḷhave
For he ever sings to that shining god who is delighted with ghee poured; I invoke Agni for the oblation.

अ॒ग्निर्जा॒तो अ॑रोचत॒ घ्नन्दस्यू॒ञ्ज्योति॑षा॒ तमः॑ । अवि॑न्द॒द्गा अ॒पः स्वः॑
agnirjāto arocata ghnandasyūñjyotiṣā tamaḥ avindadgā apaḥ svaḥ
Agni was born and shone forth, striking down, the radiant one; waters and heaven did not behold that darkness.

अ॒ग्निमी॒ळेन्यं॑ क॒विं घृ॒तपृ॑ष्ठं सपर्यत । वेतु॑ मे शृ॒णव॒द्धव॑म्
agnimīḷenyaṃ kaviṃ ghṛtapṛṣṭhaṃ saparyata vetu me śaṛṇavaddhavam
With butter he invoked the poet, the ghee‑backed, accompanying one; hear for me, O ear‑bestower.

अ॒ग्निं घृ॒तेन॑ वावृधुः॒ स्तोमे॑भिर्वि॒श्वच॑र्षणिम् । स्वा॒धीभि॑र्वच॒स्युभिः॑
agniṃ ghṛtena vāvṛdhuḥ stomebhirviśvacarṣaṇim svādhībhirvacasyubhiḥ
They kindled Agni with ghee by hymns, the all‑stirring, with his own words and praises.
