Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.1
abhrapruṣo na vācā pruṣā vasu haviṣmanto na yajñā vijānuṣaḥ sumārutaṃ na brahmāṇamarhase gaṇamastoṣyeṣāṃ na śobhase
Immersion is not by flattering words nor by speech; the Vasus are those rich in offerings, not known by sacrifices. Do not praise the airy Maruts as Brahmans; the assembly of those rejoicing is not splendid.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.2
śriye maryāso añjīm̐rakṛṇvata sumārutaṃ na pūrvīrati kṣapaḥ divasputrāsa etā na yetira ādityāsaste akrā na vāvṛdhuḥ
They adorned the glorious Maruts for splendour; those swift ones did not previously break like Kshapa. These are sons of Dyaus; they are not like the first-born of Aditya, nor did they expand in vain.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.3
pra ye divaḥ pṛthivyā na barhaṇā tmanā riricre abhrānna sūryaḥ pājasvanto na vīrāḥ panasyavo riśādaso na maryā abhidyavaḥ
When heaven and earth rose, not with blare but by their own mind the sun adorned the clouds. O warriors, not as cattle nor as lowly men were those praised, but the heroes stood like singers.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.4
May the waters not divide your springs; may not the earth reject your paths. The universal sovereign of waters, Aryaman, go forth for you; strive so that no enemy comes near your sacrificial turf.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.5
yūyaṃ dhūrṣu prayujo na raśmibhirjyotiṣmanto na bhāsā vyuṣṭiṣu śyenāso na svayaśaso riśādasaḥ pravāso na prasitāsaḥ paripruṣaḥ
You rulers, do not rely on shafts of light nor on spread radiance in hosts. O singers, not by your fame alone, not by famed airs, are horses and their chariots spread abroad; the singers with prowess are not all prosperous.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.6
pra yadvahadhve marutaḥ parākādyūyaṃ mahaḥ saṃvaraṇasya vasvaḥ vidānāso vasavo rādhyasyārācciddveṣaḥ sanutaryuyota
When the Maruts bound you far away they brought great restraint of wealth. The Vasus, known for bounty, were who arranged the feud; enmity came upon the weaker.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.7
ya udṛci yajñe adhvareṣṭhā marudbhyo na mānuṣo dadāśat revatsa vayo dadhate suvīraṃ sa devānāmapi gopīthe astu
He who rose in the sacrifice, the foremost in the offering to the Maruts, a man not of ordinary kind, he gave gifts. Revats places riches for the hero; may he be among the gods' assemblies.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 10, Sukta 77 · Verse 10.77.8
te hi yajñeṣu yajñiyāsa ūmā ādityena nāmnā śambhaviṣṭhāḥ te no'vantu rathatūrmanīṣāṃ mahaśca yāmannadhvare cakānāḥ
Indeed those who perform rites, named by Uma and Aditya, were established by the lord of strength. May they come to us with chariot-doors, minds of the great and they acted in the offering.
