अच्छा॑ म॒ इन्द्रं॑ म॒तयः॑ स्व॒र्विदः॑ स॒ध्रीची॒र्विश्वा॑ उश॒तीर॑नूषत । परि॑ ष्वजन्ते॒ जन॑यो॒ यथा॒ पतिं॒ मर्यं॒ न शु॒न्ध्युं म॒घवा॑नमू॒तये॑
acchā ma indraṃ matayaḥ svarvidaḥ sadhrīcīrviśvā uśatīranūṣata pari ṣvajante janayo yathā patiṃ maryaṃ na śundhyuṃ maghavānamūtaye
Wise seers praised Indra splendidly; bards chanted all his heroic songs. They encircled the strong-born like a husband protects his wife, and celebrated the mighty one’s heroic deeds.

न घा॑ त्व॒द्रिगप॑ वेति मे॒ मन॒स्त्वे इत्कामं॑ पुरुहूत शिश्रय । राजे॑व दस्म॒ नि ष॒दोऽधि॑ ब॒र्हिष्य॒स्मिन्सु सोमे॑ऽव॒पान॑मस्तु ते
na ghā tvadrigapa veti me manastve itkāmaṃ puruhūta śiśraya rājeva dasma ni ṣado'dhi barhiṣyasminsu some'vapānamastu te
Do not let my mind depart from you, O Puruhauta; grant this wish. O king, purify my tenfold portions; let the soma-drinker receive thy pressed juice.

वि॒षू॒वृदिन्द्रो॒ अम॑तेरु॒त क्षु॒धः स इद्रा॒यो म॒घवा॒ वस्व॑ ईशते । तस्येदि॒मे प्र॑व॒णे स॒प्त सिन्ध॑वो॒ वयो॑ वर्धन्ति वृष॒भस्य॑ शु॒ष्मिणः॑
viṣūvṛdindro amateruta kṣudhaḥ sa idrāyo maghavā vasva īśate tasyedime pravaṇe sapta sindhavo vayo vardhanti vṛṣabhasya śuṣmiṇaḥ
Indra, the slayer of Vritra, with strong desire stirred up appetite; these swift winds increase the streams like the bulls’ vigor. Thus the seven saviors grow, augmenting the bull’s subtle strength.

vayo na vṛkṣaṃ supalāśamāsadansomāsa indraṃ mandinaścamūṣadaḥ praiṣāmanīkaṃ śavasā davidyutadvidatsva1rmanave jyotirāryam
The winds attained the lofty tree — Soma, Indra, and the gentle draughts drank deeply. They sent away the hosts like gleaming light; they carried forth the radiant noble splendour.

कृ॒तं न श्व॒घ्नी वि चि॑नोति॒ देव॑ने सं॒वर्गं॒ यन्म॒घवा॒ सूर्यं॒ जय॑त् । न तत्ते॑ अ॒न्यो अनु॑ वी॒र्यं॑ शक॒न्न पु॑रा॒णो म॑घव॒न्नोत नूत॑नः
kṛtaṃ na śvaghnī vi cinoti devane saṃvargaṃ yanmaghavā sūryaṃ jayat na tatte anyo anu vīryaṃ śakanna purāṇo maghavannota nūtanaḥ
The mighty (Maghavan) did not cut down what the strong-smelling one had made; the Sun, the powerful, conquered that assembly of gods. Neither the ancient nor the new can there oppose his might.

विशं॑विशं म॒घवा॒ पर्य॑शायत॒ जना॑नां॒ धेना॑ अव॒चाक॑श॒द्वृषा॑ । यस्याह॑ श॒क्रः सव॑नेषु॒ रण्य॑ति॒ स ती॒व्रैः सोमैः॑ सहते पृतन्य॒तः
viśaṃviśaṃ maghavā paryaśāyata janānāṃ dhenā avacākaśadvṛṣā yasyāha śakraḥ savaneṣu raṇyati sa tīvraiḥ somaiḥ sahate pṛtanyataḥ
Maghavan, increasing and increasing, laid waste the herds of men with the cattle; he drove cows away with fierce juices. Whereby Indra delights in the sacrifices, he bears them with intense libations, with the sacred Soma.

आपो॒ न सिन्धु॑म॒भि यत्स॒मक्ष॑र॒न्सोमा॑स॒ इन्द्रं॑ कु॒ल्या इ॑व ह्र॒दम् । वर्ध॑न्ति॒ विप्रा॒ महो॑ अस्य॒ साद॑ने॒ यवं॒ न वृ॒ष्टिर्दि॒व्येन॒ दानु॑ना
āpo na sindhumabhi yatsamakṣaransomāsa indraṃ kulyā iva hradam vardhanti viprā maho asya sādane yavaṃ na vṛṣṭirdivyena dānunā
Waters, as rivers to the sea, brought Soma before Indra like a river into the heart. The priests increase greatly here in his sanctuary; there is not heavenly rain for the grain by a hostile flood.

वृषा॒ न क्रु॒द्धः प॑तय॒द्रज॒स्स्वा यो अ॒र्यप॑त्नी॒रकृ॑णोदि॒मा अ॒पः । स सु॑न्व॒ते म॒घवा॑ जी॒रदा॑न॒वेऽवि॑न्द॒ज्ज्योति॒र्मन॑वे ह॒विष्म॑ते
vṛṣā na kruddhaḥ patayadrajassvā yo aryapatnīrakṛṇodimā apaḥ sa sunvate maghavā jīradānave'vindajjyotirmanave haviṣmate
The cows were not enraged when the chariot-driver, husband of the noble wife, brought forth waters. He, Maghavan, praised with abundant gifts, revealed light at the oblation and offered it with sacred hymns.

उज्जा॑यतां पर॒शुर्ज्योति॑षा स॒ह भू॒या ऋ॒तस्य॑ सु॒दुघा॑ पुराण॒वत् । वि रो॑चतामरु॒षो भा॒नुना॒ शुचिः॒ स्व१॒॑र्ण शु॒क्रं शु॑शुचीत॒ सत्प॑तिः
ujjāyatāṃ paraśurjyotiṣā saha bhūyā ṛtasya sudughā purāṇavat vi rocatāmaruṣo bhānunā śuciḥ sva1rṇa śukraṃ śuśucīta satpatiḥ
May the axe of light strike forth, companion of the shining one, more abundant, like ancient truth well-observed. May the radiant one shine with the pure, golden brilliance, the auspicious, the clearly shining lord.

गोभि॑ष्टरे॒माम॑तिं दु॒रेवां॒ यवे॑न॒ क्षुधं॑ पुरुहूत॒ विश्वा॑म् । व॒यं राज॑भिः प्रथ॒मा धना॑न्य॒स्माके॑न वृ॒जने॑ना जयेम
gobhiṣṭaremāmatiṃ durevāṃ yavena kṣudhaṃ puruhūta viśvām vayaṃ rājabhiḥ prathamā dhanānyasmākena vṛjanenā jayema
For the bestowal of cows, of abundant wealth, for the distant mother and for barley, with those grains as offerings for hunger the priests universally—may we conquer with kings as foremost by the cattle-grazing booty.

बृह॒स्पति॑र्नः॒ परि॑ पातु प॒श्चादु॒तोत्त॑रस्मा॒दध॑रादघा॒योः । इन्द्रः॑ पु॒रस्ता॑दु॒त म॑ध्य॒तो नः॒ सखा॒ सखि॑भ्यो॒ वरि॑वः कृणोतु
bṛhaspatirnaḥ pari pātu paścādutottarasmādadharādaghāyoḥ indraḥ purastāduta madhyato naḥ sakhā sakhibhyo varivaḥ kṛṇotu
May Brihaspati protect us around from behind and above, from below and from the depths. Indra, in front, and the messenger in the midst—make for us companions and friends, bestowers of wealth.
