आग्निं न स्ववृ॑क्तिभि॒र्होता॑रं त्वा वृणीमहे । य॒ज्ञाय॑ स्ती॒र्णब॑र्हिषे॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ शी॒रं पा॑व॒कशो॑चिषं॒ विव॑क्षसे
āgniṃ na svavṛktibhirhotāraṃ tvā vṛṇīmahe yajñāya stīrṇabarhiṣe vi vo made śīraṃ pāvakaśociṣaṃ vivakṣase
We choose you, Agni, not for selfish turns but as sacrificer; for the sacrifice with broad sacred-branches we shall seek you, you purifier, O blazing one.

त्वामु॒ ते स्वा॒भुवः॑ शु॒म्भन्त्यश्व॑राधसः । वेति॒ त्वामु॑प॒सेच॑नी॒ वि वो॒ मद॒ ऋजी॑तिरग्न॒ आहु॑ति॒र्विव॑क्षसे
tvāmu te svābhuvaḥ śumbhantyaśvarādhasaḥ veti tvāmupasecanī vi vo mada ṛjītiragna āhutirvivakṣase
May your own offspring, the coursers, grant you favor; they approach you with oblations, Agni, with a straightened, pure offering.

त्वे ध॒र्माण॑ आसते जु॒हूभिः॑ सिञ्च॒तीरि॑व । कृ॒ष्णा रू॒पाण्यर्जु॑ना॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ विश्वा॒ अधि॒ श्रियो॑ धिषे॒ विव॑क्षसे
tve dharmāṇa āsate juhūbhiḥ siñcatīriva kṛṣṇā rūpāṇyarjunā vi vo made viśvā adhi śriyo dhiṣe vivakṣase
With rites you seat the laws; as if watering a furrow, you bestow; dark forms and bright ones you grant in sacrifice, all wealth you distribute.

यम॑ग्ने॒ मन्य॑से र॒यिं सह॑सावन्नमर्त्य । तमा नो॒ वाज॑सातये॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ य॒ज्ञेषु॑ चि॒त्रमा भ॑रा॒ विव॑क्षसे
yamagne manyase rayiṃ sahasāvannamartya tamā no vājasātaye vi vo made yajñeṣu citramā bharā vivakṣase
O Agni, you deem the treasure vast together with thousands of mortal men; you carry for us the magnificence in rites and bear many wondrous offerings.

अ॒ग्निर्जा॒तो अथ॑र्वणा वि॒दद्विश्वा॑नि॒ काव्या॑ । भुव॑द्दू॒तो वि॒वस्व॑तो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ प्रि॒यो य॒मस्य॒ काम्यो॒ विव॑क्षसे
agnirjāto atharvaṇā vidadviśvāni kāvyā bhuvaddūto vivasvato vi vo made priyo yamasya kāmyo vivakṣase
Agni was born; Atharvan declared him and gave all hymns; he, messenger of the sky, beloved of Vivasvat, desired the will of Yama.

त्वां य॒ज्ञेष्वी॑ळ॒तेऽग्ने॑ प्रय॒त्य॑ध्व॒रे । त्वं वसू॑नि॒ काम्या॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ विश्वा॑ दधासि दा॒शुषे॒ विव॑क्षसे
tvāṃ yajñeṣvīḷate'gne prayatyadhvare tvaṃ vasūni kāmyā vi vo made viśvā dadhāsi dāśuṣe vivakṣase
You, Agni, are sought in the rites, returning to the altar; you grant desirable wealth, you place all possessions into the hands of the sacrificers.

त्वां य॒ज्ञेष्वृ॒त्विजं॒ चारु॑मग्ने॒ नि षे॑दिरे । घृ॒तप्र॑तीकं॒ मनु॑षो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ शु॒क्रं चेति॑ष्ठम॒क्षभि॒र्विव॑क्षसे
tvāṃ yajñeṣvṛtvijaṃ cārumagne ni ṣedire ghṛtapratīkaṃ manuṣo vi vo made śukraṃ cetiṣṭhamakṣabhirvivakṣase
You, Agni, in rites are the priestly, fair one; men think of you as the ghee-offering’s emblem; you appear bright through the eyes of those who see.

अग्ने॑ शु॒क्रेण॑ शो॒चिषो॒रु प्र॑थयसे बृ॒हत् । अ॒भि॒क्रन्द॑न्वृषायसे॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ गर्भं॑ दधासि जा॒मिषु॒ विव॑क्षसे
agne śukreṇa śociṣoru prathayase bṛhat abhikrandanvṛṣāyase vi vo made garbhaṃ dadhāsi jāmiṣu vivakṣase
O Agni, with bright tears you extend greatness; you roar toward the kine, you bore the womb in beasts and placed offspring in cows.
