We choose you, Agni, not for selfish turns but as sacrificer; for the sacrifice with broad sacred-branches we shall seek you, you purifier, O blazing one.

We invoke you now, Agni, invoker (of the gods), with our voluntary (praises) for the sacrifice, at whichthe sacred grass is spread; you, who underlying (all things), who (diffuses) purifying radiance, (we invoke) foryour exhilaration; you are mighty.

WITH offerings of our own we choose thee, Agni, as Invoking Priest, For sacrifice with trimmed grass,-at your glad carouse-piercing and brightly shining. Thou art waxing great.
