yo yajño viśvatastantubhistata ekaśataṃ devakarmebhirāyataḥ ime vayanti pitaro ya āyayuḥ pra vayāpa vayetyāsate tate
He who is sacrifice, woven by all the threads, standing with a hundred deities in divine rites—these fathers proclaim him who enhances, who spread forth nourishment and abundance.

pumām̐ enaṃ tanuta utkṛṇatti pumānvi tatne adhi nāke asmin ime mayūkhā upa sedurū sadaḥ sāmāni cakrustasarāṇyotave
A man stretches forth this body; that man reaches beyond it and stands over it. These foolish ones sang the hymns of Sāman; they made chariots for the forest-dwelling rites.

kāsītpramā pratimā kiṃ nidānamājyaṃ kimāsītparidhiḥ ka āsīt chandaḥ kimāsītpraugaṃ kimukthaṃ yaddevā devamayajanta viśve
What was measure, what image, what was the offering's deposit? What circumference was there? What metre, what primal phrase, what release did the gods, who sacrificed to the divine, enact for the world?

Agni became the Gayatri, Savitar came forth with warmth. Sūrya arose; Soma, with great hymns, and Brihaspati with lofty speech, moved among the people.

virāṇmitrāvaruṇayorabhiśrīrindrasya triṣṭubiha bhāgo ahnaḥ viśvāndevāñjagatyā viveśa tena cākḷpra ṛṣayo manuṣyāḥ
The portions of the day belonged to mighty Mitra and Varuṇa and to Indra in triṣṭubh metre. All gods entered the world; thus the seers and humans partook with the dawn.

cākḷpre tena ṛṣayo manuṣyā yajñe jāte pitaro naḥ purāṇe paśyanmanye manasā cakṣasā tānya imaṃ yajñamayajanta pūrve
The seers, with the charioteer, performed these rites; our fathers in old times were born in the sacrifice. I behold them with mind and eye—these once performed this very sacrifice of old.

Sahastoma, Sahachandas, wrapped together; sages with wondrous inspirations, seven divine—behold the ancient paths, the steadfast ones who yoked chariots and measured out the rays.
