वि॒राण्मि॒त्रावरु॑णयोरभि॒श्रीरिन्द्र॑स्य त्रि॒ष्टुबि॒ह भा॒गो अह्नः॑ । विश्वा॑न्दे॒वाञ्जग॒त्या वि॑वेश॒ तेन॑ चाकॢप्र॒ ऋष॑यो मनु॒ष्याः॑
virāṇmitrāvaruṇayorabhiśrīrindrasya triṣṭubiha bhāgo ahnaḥ viśvāndevāñjagatyā viveśa tena cākḷpra ṛṣayo manuṣyāḥ
The portions of the day belonged to mighty Mitra and Varuṇa and to Indra in triṣṭubh metre. All gods entered the world; thus the seers and humans partook with the dawn.
Virāt. was the glory of Mitra and Varuṇa; Triṣṭubh was Indra's portion of the midday (oblation) atand 5 answer the question, what was the metre? Two of the other questions- those relating to the butter (ājya)and the enclosure (paridhi)-- have been answered, in the Puruṣa sūkta, 10.90; cf. Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa3.12.9]. beholding them with the eye of the mind, I glorify those who of old celebrated this sacrifice.
Viraj adhered to Varuna and Mitra: here Tristup day by day was Indra's portion. Jagati entered all the Gods together: so by this knowledge men were raised to Rsis.
