saṃ ca tve jagmurgira indra pūrvīrvi ca tvadyanti vibhvo manīṣāḥ purā nūnaṃ ca stutaya ṛṣīṇāṃ paspṛdhra indre adhyukthārkā
And they pursued thee, O mountain, earlier—Indra, thinkers and wise ones were around. Previously the seers truly praised Indra, the radiant ones were invoked in the assembly.

puruhūto yaḥ purugūrta ṛbhvām̐ ekaḥ purupraśasto asti yajñaiḥ ratho na mahe śavase yujāno3'smābhirindro anumādyo bhūt
He who was first invoked, the primal sacrificer, foremost of the Rbhus, renowned among rites; the chariot was not of great slaughter—the yoked youths with us, Indra was foremost in strength.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 6, Sukta 34 · Verse 6.34.3
na yaṃ hiṃsanti dhītayo na vāṇīrindraṃ nakṣantīdabhi vardhayantīḥ yadi stotāraḥ śataṃ yatsahasraṃ gṛṇanti girvaṇasaṃ śaṃ tadasmai
Not those who are wise hurt him, nor do the words strike Indra; the swift ones do not increase him. If a hundred or a thousand singers praise what the voice and speech have proclaimed, that (praise) is for him.

asmā etaddivya1rceva māsā mimikṣa indre nyayāmi somaḥ janaṃ na dhanvannabhi saṃ yadāpaḥ satrā vāvṛdhurhavanāni yajñaiḥ
I regard this divine worship as a month to me; Soma I adjudicate. People, not the bow nor waters, increase the sacrificial fires and offerings of rites (yajñas).

asmā etanmahyāṅgūṣamasmā indrāya stotraṃ matibhiravāci asadyathā mahati vṛtratūrya indro viśvāyuravitā vṛdhaśca
For us he is the great refuge, for Indra a hymn sung by counsels. Thus as a mighty slayer of Vritra Indra became strong, life-giver, and growing.
