किम॑स्य॒ मदे॒ किम्व॑स्य पी॒ताविन्द्रः॒ किम॑स्य स॒ख्ये च॑कार । रणा॑ वा॒ ये नि॒षदि॒ किं ते अ॑स्य पु॒रा वि॑विद्रे॒ किमु॒ नूत॑नासः
kimasya made kimvasya pītāvindraḥ kimasya sakhye cakāra raṇā vā ye niṣadi kiṃ te asya purā vividre kimu nūtanāsaḥ
Why this intoxication of mine? Why the honeyed Indra? Why this friendship he forged? Were the battles with the Nisadas then; what once he split of yours long ago—what of the new ones?

सद॑स्य॒ मदे॒ सद्व॑स्य पी॒ताविन्द्रः॒ सद॑स्य स॒ख्ये च॑कार । रणा॑ वा॒ ये नि॒षदि॒ सत्ते अ॑स्य पु॒रा वि॑विद्रे॒ सदु॒ नूत॑नासः
sadasya made sadvasya pītāvindraḥ sadasya sakhye cakāra raṇā vā ye niṣadi satte asya purā vividre sadu nūtanāsaḥ
Of that blissful intoxication, of that wealthy honeyed Indra, of that friendship he made: were the battles with the Nisadas? Those who once rent your house—do they fare well among the new ones?

न॒हि नु ते॑ महि॒मनः॑ समस्य॒ न म॑घवन्मघव॒त्त्वस्य॑ वि॒द्म । न राध॑सोराधसो॒ नूत॑न॒स्येन्द्र॒ नकि॑र्ददृश इन्द्रि॒यं ते॑
nahi nu te mahimanaḥ samasya na maghavanmaghavattvasya vidma na rādhasorādhaso nūtanasyendra nakirdadṛśa indriyaṃ te
No certainly is your greatness to be doubted; we know not the lord of gifts’ generosity. Not of the base nor of the fresh nor of Indra’s new acts have I seen thy might.

ए॒तत्त्यत्त॑ इन्द्रि॒यम॑चेति॒ येनाव॑धीर्व॒रशि॑खस्य॒ शेषः॑ । वज्र॑स्य॒ यत्ते॒ निह॑तस्य॒ शुष्मा॑त्स्व॒नाच्चि॑दिन्द्र पर॒मो द॒दार॑
etattyatta indriyamaceti yenāvadhīrvaraśikhasya śeṣaḥ vajrasya yatte nihatasya śuṣmātsvanāccidindra paramo dadāra
This is the measure of the sense whose boundary is that which remains of the thrown spear’s shaft. That which struck down the thunderbolt’s might—Indra’s highest gave it forth in the subtle breath of sound.

वधी॒दिन्द्रो॑ व॒रशि॑खस्य॒ शेषो॑ऽभ्याव॒र्तिने॑ चायमा॒नाय॒ शिक्ष॑न् । वृ॒चीव॑तो॒ यद्ध॑रियू॒पीया॑यां॒ हन्पूर्वे॒ अर्धे॑ भि॒यसाप॑रो॒ दर्त्
vadhīdindro varaśikhasya śeṣo'bhyāvartine cāyamānāya śikṣan vṛcīvato yaddhariyūpīyāyāṃ hanpūrve ardhe bhiyasāparo dart
Indra struck down the remnant on the peak and smote the returning foe; like Vr̥ci’s sons who seized the udders he laid hold on the half before, the pair of frightful ones.

त्रिं॒शच्छ॑तं व॒र्मिण॑ इन्द्र सा॒कं य॒व्याव॑त्यां पुरुहूत श्रव॒स्या । वृ॒चीव॑न्तः॒ शर॑वे॒ पत्य॑मानाः॒ पात्रा॑ भिन्दा॒ना न्य॒र्थान्या॑यन्
triṃśacchataṃ varmiṇa indra sākaṃ yavyāvatyāṃ puruhūta śravasyā vṛcīvantaḥ śarave patyamānāḥ pātrā bhindānā nyarthānyāyan
Thirty-six-fold was Indra’s armour when the priestly host marched with him in the sacrifice; Vr̥ci’s men, bent on shafts, arrayed like quivers, broke open vessels and laid waste the booty.

यस्य॒ गावा॑वरु॒षा सू॑यव॒स्यू अ॒न्तरू॒ षु चर॑तो॒ रेरि॑हाणा । स सृञ्ज॑याय तु॒र्वशं॒ परा॑दाद्वृ॒चीव॑तो दैववा॒ताय॒ शिक्ष॑न्
yasya gāvāvaruṣā sūyavasyū antarū ṣu carato rerihāṇā sa sṛñjayāya turvaśaṃ parādādvṛcīvato daivavātāya śikṣan
Whose kine rained milk, fair as the sun’s garments, roaming among the herds — for the victorious Vr̥ci he sent the swift boon and taught the heaven-directed wind.

द्व॒याँ अ॑ग्ने र॒थिनो॑ विंश॒तिं गा व॒धूम॑तो म॒घवा॒ मह्यं॑ स॒म्राट् । अ॒भ्या॒व॒र्ती चा॑यमा॒नो द॑दाति दू॒णाशे॒यं दक्षि॑णा पार्थ॒वाना॑म्
dvayām̐ agne rathino viṃśatiṃ gā vadhūmato maghavā mahyaṃ samrāṭ abhyāvartī cāyamāno dadāti dūṇāśeyaṃ dakṣiṇā pārthavānām
Twofold are Agni’s steeds; the twenty-fold glory to the slayer of kine, O mighty king, a bountiful giver. The returning shade gives this fee, a southern tribute to the Parthavas.
