kathā dāśemāgnaye kāsmai devajuṣṭocyate bhāmine gīḥ yo martyeṣvamṛta ṛtāvā hotā yajiṣṭha itkṛṇoti devān
How is the splendour called upon Agni? Which song is addressed to the divine-kissed one? He who among mortals the sacrificer foremost makes immortal by rites—this is declared to the gods.

He who in the assemblies rests in peace, true to the Rta, the sacrificer—salute him with reverence. Agni who makes mortals two-fold for the gods and awakens them with mind, be gracious.

sa hi kratuḥ sa maryaḥ sa sādhurmitro na bhūdadbhutasya rathīḥ taṃ medheṣu prathamaṃ devayantīrviśa upa bruvate dasmamārīḥ
For he is sacrifice, he is glory, he is the lofty friend, the charioteer of the wondrous one. Among the sages first extolling the gods, he speaks to our assemblies as protector.

May he, most famed among men, the singer, the priest Agni, bring down the inspiring word and the intellect; may those wealthy, noble ones who are best in strength, desiring riches, grant us favor.

Rigveda · Chapter Mandala 1, Sukta 77 · Verse 1.77.5

evāgnirgotamebhirṛtāvā viprebhirastoṣṭa jātavedāḥ sa eṣu dyumnaṃ pīpayatsa vājaṃ sa puṣṭiṃ yāti joṣamā cikitvān
Thus Agni, like the Gotamas, born of the knowers, praised by Brahmins, drank the ether and drew forth the power; he attains nourishment and the vigor that heals.
