For he is sacrifice, he is glory, he is the lofty friend, the charioteer of the wondrous one. Among the sages first extolling the gods, he speaks to our assemblies as protector.
For he is the performer of rites, he is the destroyer and reviver (of all things), and, like a friend he is the donor of unattained wealth; all men reverencing the gods, and approaching the well-looking Agni, repeat his name first in holy rites.
For he is mental power, a man, and perfect; he is the bringer, friend-,like, of the wondrous. The pious Aryan tribes at sacrifices address them first to him who doeth marvels.
